Very good if just a teeny bit coarse
Sadly, not an owner of the Professional Precision Adjust sharpening system at this time (looks like a very promising product), but with the 1" by 6" format, I purchased this to attach to an aluminium blank to allow use with any system that uses the EdgePro stone format - EP Apex, EP Professional, Ruixin/Ganzo, Hapstone, TS Prof, etc. The ceramic hone is obviously good quality, with a flat surface, rounded corners, and no obvious defects. It is however relatively aggressive for a ceramic stone, but that fits in with the PPA's grit progression, with the previous step being an 800 grit diamond plate - just means you'll be spending less time honing and more time polishing/stropping. Still a good intermediate step to assist in de-burring and starting to achieve a polish. That said, a much cheaper, and more freely available option for an EdgePro compatible (with the addition of a mounting plate) ceramic stone - Idahone slim stones are about the same price, but end up considerably more expensive once shipping and tax are added; custom cut Spyderco stones are also available, but these are more expensive to start with..... plus shipping and tax to add. Great service from Heinnie..... as always! ps - if anyone who does have the PPA system is looking for a wider grit progression to get that mirror polished edge, flip over the diamond plates, make sure that they are smooth and flat, and then you can attach polishing tapes/lapping film to use prior to finishing with the strop. ;0)
