Viper Key Micarta Bolster 18

It think this knife is gorgeous and would love to carry it daily. However, the cutting edge appears to be 78mm rather than the legal 76.22mm. It could be my dodgy measuring but there is enough doubt in my mind over its legality to stop me using outside the house. Which is a shame. Also the 25 degree sharpening angle seems a bit wide, so it doesn't slice as well as expected for the blade shape. I would have thought 20 or 17 degrees would be better. With the above issues I'm thinking of getting the blade reground to 20 degrees and the choil extended so the blade is definitely legal.

I absolutely agree with Pinky, this is a very well-made knife which oozes class and quality. Jesper Voxnaes' great Danish design and Viper's Italian craftsmanship makes this a winner. I think the paler micarta works visually better with the titanium bolster than the CF version. The one thing about this knife which literally separates the men from the boys is that monster spring which 'locks' the blade into place - both at 90 degrees and full extension... you need proper man-hands and fingers to open this bad-boy; and nervous types who've chomped their nails will struggle. Every time I hear that satisfying 'click' it makes as it snaps into place - I get a warm, gentlemanly, proud glow. ;0)

I have been searching for that perfect pocket knife for longer than I can remember, but think I have found it. This is not a tactical knife, outdoor/bushcraft blade, there are plenty of jobs where I will need a different knife. What it is is for me is the perfect example of a top quality modern traditional gentleman's folder. Titanium, micarta and M390 steel put together flawlessly with an amazing attention to detail including the wonderful file work on the rounded back spring. The blade is wickedly sharp and the very limit of legal length, the handle is an easy 4 finger grip for me and comfortable with it. The back spring is a 9+ and the strongest of any slip joint I own but there will be no accidents so I don't mind this is not for rapid deployment it is not that type of knife. Slip case is also quality and comes together to make a gorgeous package without equal, I cannot stop looking at it or running my fingers along the smooth lines. The only thing sharper and better looking is the other half, both are definitely keepers! The other thing flawless as always is the service from Heinnie Haynes there are non friendlier or better. The complete package start to finish.
