A Thing of Beauty is a Joy for Ever

Posted by Gareth Jones on 20th Apr 2022

This is a sharp, long-lasting edge on a robust and ideally-shaped blade. The action is spot-on - strong enough to resist accidental closure while being convenient to open and close with a reassuring sound on engagement in both directions. The appearance is gorgeous. The matt finish on the carbon scales and titanium bolsters beautifully sets off the high-gloss finish on the back of the blade and backspring with its hand-tooled spiral embellishment. A near-perfect gentleman's knife that is more than capable of dealing with light- and medium-duty everyday cutting tasks.

very nice knife, couple of minor niggles

Posted by Pete on 19th May 2020

A very nice blade, superbly styled and very classy, an ideal gentlemans knife. Carbon fibre is nicely finished and has a matt feel to it, likewise the titanium bolsters and liners. I would have expected that where the bolster and cf meet would have been flush, but there is a ridge, this appears to be as designed rather than a fit n finish issue but you'd think it would be more desirable to have a nice flush join. Minor niggle 1. The blade itself is perfectly finished, no uneven grinds, rounded spine, sharp as you would expect, no issues there. Etching is clear and crisp. The spring is on the strong side, and has a very positive half stop, again no issues there. The detailing at the back of the spring is a really nice touch, and looks just the right amount of embellishment. There is a little jimping at the top of the spring, which looks fine but actually provides no extra grip, minor niggle no 2. The enclosed sheath is nice enough, not overly thick, but nice stamping of the viper brand, and reasonably well made. I have seen a couple of instances online where the sheath edges do not line up quite right, luckily no such issue on mine. It holds the knife, not especially snugly, but will keep it from getting scratched up in your pocket at least Overall this is a lovely looking, and decent performing blade that will show you are the epitome of good taste. Couple of marks of being perfect to my mind, but damn near close. I am pretty fond of mine already
