The Viper Dan was designed to in answer to a specific contemporary need: to carry a knife, suitable for everyday life, yet not considered offensive. To add to this it can be easily opened with one hand, and without a locking system.

Designed by Tommaso Rumici, the Viper Dan is their first sports folder equipped with mechanical Action Stopper®, now thoroughly tested over many years since its debut.

The system is similar to that used on their Britola and Regional series: offering the right resistance to be safe in generic uses, but definitely unsuitable for violent uses. The name is followed by a number that identifies the blade shape and hides the acronym "Daily Assorted Needs" that suggests the great versatility of this small folder.

Viper Dan1 has a Clip Point Blade, Viper Dan2 has a Wharncliff Blade.

    • Blade: Böhler N690Co stainless steel; vacuum and cryogenic heat treatments; hardness HRC 57/59; finished thickness 3 mm; satin finish.
    • Locking mechanism: AS patented system (Action Stopper).
    • Liners: dual AISI 420C tempered liners.
    • Scales: Carbon Fibre, Green G-10, Burgundy Canvas.
    • Fasteners: AISI 303 stainless steel pivot screw and fasteners.
    • Spacer: GR2 Titanium anodized.
    • Clip: AISI 420 tempered stainless steel.

    Brilliant ****** six stars

Posted by Roy Hughes on 28th Feb 2022

UK legal, lovely to hold. Although it relies on a detent ball to keep it open its pretty positively locked open. It is much more functional as a cutting tool than other detent folders I have used. The finish is impeccable. It feels really good in the hand. The folder is very hard to open one handed in a single motion although I have done it by pushing my thumb to its limit! But its not the optimum. But you can do it one handed by changing your grip, so in a two stage action much more comfortably. The blade steel could be better but thats picky. Great, great knife and practical. (Its very pretty too, better than in the photo).

    Top UK EDC

Superb quality EDC, UK legal too. Smooth and Razor sharp out of the box. As usual Heinnie delivers faultless quality and service. Get one, you won't be disappointed.

    Best knife ever.

Posted by Max on 15th Nov 2016

Absolutely love this knife, bought the Carbon Fibre one after I'd bought the G10 model and they're both absolutely amazing. Both came very sharp, very nice, sleek design. No guard, but that is part of the beauty of the knife. Also, this knife has a wonderful one handed open system, that can even be flicked with enough practice, very practical for when you need to open it frequently. I love this knife, the point makes opening boxes and cutting cardboard a breeze, sharpening does take some practice though due to the slight curve. Possibly my favourite knife, a must buy and the carbon handle is just adds to the sleekness.

    A cracking little knife

Posted by Nick on 13th May 2016

I admit to being a bit of a Spyderco fanboy but this is my first Viper and is well on its way to becoming my choice for EDC. It feels light in the hand yet is well made from quality materials and has, in my opinion, that little extra that Maniago blades seem to have. It can, with a little practice, be opened one handed although it is not a "fli*per" by any means; I find thumb to the first stop then forefinger the rest of the way works well. It is as close to a Spyderco Mantra as you are likely to find and still be UK friendly.

    Excellent UK carry folding pocketknife.

Posted by TallNHairyDave on 27th Aug 2015

I got this from Heinnies the day it landed on the site and it's been my daily carry most days since. It's very elegant, feels lovely in the hand and has one of my favourite shapes of blades for general use. It holds a good edge, sharpens easily and is non-threatening in appearance. I'm thinking of getting the Dan 1 now so I'll have a matching pair with both blade shapes!
