1/ FAIL SAFE CAN OPENER.2/ SEAT BELT CUTTER.

Posted by UMBOMAN on 14th Jul 2025

I WISH TO START WITH THE BAD BIT = AS IT NON LOCKING THERE IS A SERIOUS RISK OF CUTTING YOUR FINGER BADLY =I KNOW- IT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I WAS TIRED & I ALTERED THE DIRECTION OF PRESSURE WHEN PUSHING HARD & THE LARGE BLADE FOLDED ON MY FINGER CAUSING A DEEP CUT. AFTER THAT I ALWAYS USING LOCKING OR FIXED BLADES FOR DIY,ETC & WITH MORE CAUTION !!! HOWEVER THE GOOD NEWS OUTWEIGHS THAT BIT = THE SAK IS STREET LEGAL IN CASE YOU ENCOUNTER THE NON CRIME HATE ****.(FUNNY HOW THEY IGNORED THE ******* TAPPING MACHETES ON THE RIOT SHEILDS =TWO TIER *******). MY MAIN REASON FOR BUYING NINE OF THESE IS THE FAIL SAFE TIN OPENER. I HAVE PLENTY OF STANDARD TIN OPENERS FOR WTSHTF.............BUT WE ALL KNOW THEY FAIL ABOUT 1 YEAR INTO THE 25 YEAR GAURANTEE. I DO NOT WANT TO BLEED TO DEATH BY TRYING TO OPEN A TIN OF BEANS OR SOUP OR RICE PUDDING! SAK TIN OPENER WILL LAST UNTIL THE CASING FALLS APART =WHICH I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF. AFTER TSHTF ALL GAURANTEES ARE NULL & VOID. WE CAN LEGALLY LEAVE THIS IN THE VEHICLE OR CARRY ON OUR PERSON TO CUT THROUGH A SEAT BELT IF IT BECAME JAMMED AFTER AN ACCIDENT. NO ONE WANTS TO BURN ALIVE IN A MODERN EV FIRE = NB = I RECOMMEND BUYING A QUALITY WINDOW BREAKER TO GO WITH IT =ALWAYS CHECK THE REVIEWS AS A FEW ARE RUBBISH. I AM A DRY ALCOHOLIC FOR AROUND 20 YEARS SO HAD NO USE FOR THE CORKSCREW; EXCEPT TO ****** SOMEONE WITH?(THE EQUALIZER,HA,HA) THE PHILIPS THING IS BETTER = IT "may" BE POSSIBLE TO USE AS A WINDOW BREAKER BUT I DOUBT IT ! ALSO I WOULD NOT PUT TOO MUCH TORK ON IT AS THAT PROPABLEY WITH DAMAGE THE FRAME =THINK OF IT AS TIGHTENING LOOSE SCREWS & BOLTS IN AN EMERGENCY? THE AWL IS A VERY USEFUL TOOL FOR MANY USES. BOTTLE OPENER IS MORE USE OPENING PAINT TINS AS I THOUGHT THEY STOPPED MAKING BOTTLES WITH TOPS ON???? AT £23 IT IS MORE USEFUL THAN THE SPARTAN. I WOULD ONLY USE THE BLADES IN AN EMERGENCY. IF I WAS ATTACKED & IN FEAR OF MY LIFE I WOULD SELECT THE SAW & USE IT AS 360 DEG ************** VERY EFFECTIVE,YET SIMPLE & SMALL. I WOULD USED A SILKY POCKET BOY FOR SAWING WOOD AS TIME & ENERGY IS VERY PRECIOUS. I DO NOT F. ABOUT WITH A SAK SAW.

I've been "into" high end, single blade knives, for a very long time, but decided to give Victorinox, a try, as a UK Legal option.. To say, I'm blown away, is the understatement of the decade,, these are simply fantastic.. I'll never carry, (on its own), a single blade knife again.. Why on earth would anyone want a "one trick pony" in their pocket, when you can have a small UK friendly multi purpose knife like this.?? Sure, the steel of the blades is not a "SuperSteel", but it's easy to sharpen, and provides a "screaming" sharp edge.... There are so many different models, you can choose the one that fits your lifestyle perfectly, without wasting excess money.. They may appear cheap, but that's because Victorinox is the biggest pocket knife manufacturer in the world, and can keep costs down, by the sheer volume of the knives they sell,, these are seriously high quality items, with superb manufacturing tolerances,, I've also recently got the Alox Farmer, as well as this one, and it's even better.!!! Boy, am I kicking myself, for not appreciating these knives years ago,, totally fantastic,, just buy one /some, you won't be disappointed, I'm sure,,,,

I think this SAK is the best compromise between size, weight, price & function. I don't like scissors or corkscrews but I Do like a saw, so this does it for me, even though I'll still keep buying others of this type!

I cut a small tree down with it.

Posted by Ryan on 11th Nov 2016

My girlfriend has one of these in white along with her Ladybug H1 PE. Ive only used it once & for that i used the saw & to my surprise was sufficient enough to take down a small tree. So on that basis it's hard to fault after it has already exceeded my expectations.

    Excellent EDC knife / mini-tool

Posted by Clive on 27th Jan 2014

I used to view SAKs as more "worthy" than desirable. I can now see they're absolutely perfect for 90%+ of "urban" pocket-knife duties. This model is UK-legal too so no "carry anxiety". If you want an indestructible heavy duty folding knife for hard outdoor use then look elsewhere. But if you're after a well-made "people-friendly" cutting tool with sharp blades that'll also handle stuff like prising open tins; adjusting screws; making small holes etc then this is an excellent buy. Great design with nice, tight tolerances. Blades light and precise rather than hefty but they've zero play, are sharp OTB and are easily re-sharpened. Tools well-formed and great for everyday (if not heavy-duty) use. No pocket clip but when suspended mid-pocket from one's belt with a cable tie and mini carabiner it's neat and easily accessed and, at 77g, no burden either. Great value considering it's a quality, Swiss-made item. Recommended. Usual super-quick HH service.

Lot of knife for the money.

This great little knife covers all the bases. Has all the functions required for an EDC blade. Very good quality as expected from Victorinox knives and great value for money.
