    Good Military/Bushcrafter

Posted by Peter Wilson on 10th Jul 2025

The knife is perfectly done but the grips benefit from being sanded smoother for my preference. The checkering is “pine cone” like as opposed to helpful but comfortable. Once done the knife excels at all manner of bushcraft tasks. Battoning and feathersticking are easily done. The edge scored 100 on a BESS test so is razor sharp. The kydex sheath has standard hole spacing so I added a kydex loop for a fire steel and used the elastic cord supplied for a lanyard for the steel to hold it in place securely. The spine has sharp edges near the tip and on the thumb ramp. There are useable edges on the spine tapered section if you hold the spine at the right angle. The M390 steel and grips are food safe for health and safety non porous and non corrosion purposes so the knife can work as a skinner/game prep knife for deer stalking. It is a good Allrounder. Very solid and tough without being a “prybar” . A bit big for working inside a carcass but it offers more wood processing capability because of it’s size. The swell at the butt enables with the use of a lanyard a rear grip chopping capacity which is quite effective on cleaning off branches. A good thickness to the grip gives good power cutting ability too. It is quite light on your belt compared to the Apocalypse and for me that dictates it’s use. The Apocalypse would go in a rucksack for my preference but this can be carried when you want a tough duty knife.
