Fred Perrin is an accomplished custom knifemaker and craftsman, specializing in his own uniquely functional designs.

Perrin’s original FB04 Street Bowie was one of Spyderco’s earliest fixed-blade collaborations. Its versatile Bowie-style blade offers both power and finesse, making it suitable for a wide range of cutting chores. The injection-molded fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle features hand-filling contours and molded Kraton inserts that, together with the deep index-finger choil, literally lock the knife into the user’s hand for superior control.

Long a favorite among savvy knife users worldwide, the Spyderco Street Bowie is now back by popular demand. Like the original, the current version boasts a flat-ground VG-10 stainless steel blade. In classic Bowie style, it features a straight clip point that centers the tip on the knife’s centerline for maximum control. An extended section of jimping (textured grooves) on the spine of the blade mates seamlessly with a molded, textured panel on the handle for additional security and control. To reduce its reflective properties, the blade has a durable black ceramic coating.

The new Street Bowie features a completely redesigned sheath. Injection moulded from polymer, it has a high throat for positive retention while still providing a full grip on the knife at the outset of the draw. It includes Spyderco’s versatile G-Clip attachment, which supports both belt carry and clip-style inside-the-waistband carry. Configurable for vertical, horizontal, or diagonally canted carry, it can be attached to both sides and both faces of the symmetrical sheath.

    Pretty impressed

Posted by A Hocking on 26th Oct 2022

I'm pretty impressed with this blade, more so than I thought. Hats off to Fred Perrin and Spyderco, who have actually pulled off a functional knife that meets the Martial Artist needs. I often get suspicious when eminent names with martial or combat pedigree are attached to knifes but I have to say the design works and works well for me and my style. Lovely balance and perfect grip in my hand whether held in an open or reverse grip. The sheath looks the part too and retains the knife well. Fast becoming one of my favourite training knifes and one of the few that actually feels comfortableand secure to hold . The knife itself is fairly lightweight and I won't be using it for bushcraft or camping, reserving it's use solely for the dojo.

    Great all-rounder

My wife didn't believe me when I said I'd bought this knife to use in the kitchen... Turns out she was wrong -- this thing has already demolished a few onions and a leg of lamb. The edge was perfect out the box; really impressed with the fit & finish of both knife and sheath. The balance is absolutely spot-on and you can tell it was thoughtfully designed by a man who knows knife fighting. The rubber inserts in the handle are a stroke of genius and the massive finger choil and spine jimping make it really secure and controllable in the hand. I've had it less than a week so can't comment on how the edge or finish holds up -- but VG10 is a decent steel and the ceramic coating is very nicely done so I have every faith that this is going to hold up well. Overall, it's a beautiful knife which is a little bit unusual and suited to everything from cooking and hunting to fighting and bushcraft. Very impressed and would highly recommend. (And thanks again for speedy service from HH).

looks good and feels good in the hand the sheath holds the knife secured the only problem was the blade was not as sharp as i would have wanted straight out of the box, another one for the collection
