Spyderco Squeak Heinnie® Edition 18

This is another lovely UK legal carry EDC knife, overall the knife looks and feels great, build quality is to a high standard. I have again taken off the pocket clip as I don’t use it and I think it feels better in the hand without. The red G10 scales are a great addition, nice and grippy, I’m not a fan of the fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) scales. This knife also has the full length back spring, which I prefer to the half spring. I already have the Spyderco Urban Heinnie® and the UK Penknife Heinnie® edition (leaf blade) but I would love to see the Heinnie® UK Penknife G10 (Drop Point) make a return…PLEASE Usual great service from HH.

I am very happy with this knife. When I first opened the box it was smaller than I had anticipated. But now that I am using it in my office job.. I find the fact that, the knife when closed, will fit into the palm of my hand, a great benefit. I can easily open the short blade, cut what I need & close the blade quickly. An unobtrusive knife with a well shaped & shirt blade. The handle scales a nice crimson colour & discreet pocket clip. I am please to have this knife in my rota of EDC blades.

First rate EDC perfect size ? very unobtrusive. Holds an edge well, good pocket clip. All in all excellent, same as the Service from HH.

Being a Spyderco collector since many years and due to new German law restrictions I decided to upgrade my collection for daily carry with a small, non-locking and high-quality knife. This one fulfils my expectations completely. It arrived in good fit and finish, no sharp edges and the blade is perfectly centered.- A little bit of "fine-tuning" and "customizing" was needed: The pivot screw was loose so I had to tighten it and secured it with loctite. Also some oil was missing. In addition I replaced the clip with the shorter Dragonfly 2 variant. In my opinion it looks better and has no side-to-side play.- The delivery service was perfect as usual. You guys at HH once again did a good job! One week after order the knife was in my mailbox. Thank you again for your efforts! I now will carry my HH red knife with pride!

Having become a bit of a steel nerd, it's always good to experience different steel compositions, and Spyderco gets their heat treatment done right... I was expecting the M398 to be a bit of a nightmare to sharpen but honestly it took a 17 degree per side edge on the Work Sharp more easily than some M390 I have - the fact that I've sharpened it already leads me on to one of a couple of downsides... - factory edges from all the other Spyderco facilities come pretty good, but I find the Maniago grinds toothy, steep and unpleasantly gritty in use for most tasks - for something with such a high large carbide content it's dealing with a shallower angle just fine.! The Squeak itself is a great wee knife too - another properly ergonomic Spyderco user with one hand opening and quick closing... But I'm not a fan of the scales..! - part of it is personal, I know - I just don't like red knives (controversial to say on this site, but true) - but I don't like the sharp texture, the sharp edges on the scales... Or the hard plastic feel. It's definitely a keeper - especially now it's got a cleaner edge - but I think I'll be putting some titanium/micarta/wood scales onto it sooner rather than later... Still an excellent, useful tool, but the above issues knock it down to four stars for me...

Great comfortable small knife and love g10 scales from Henie only shame is knife not made in usa made in Italy and still high price for small knife in my opinion

Grippy g10 scales, good f&f, and sheeple friendly! M398 trades toughness in favour of edge retention & corrosion resistance, which makes perfect sense in a short edc knife.

Very happy with this one, even blade bevel, and razor sharp. I the dark red scales and steel is perfect for this. The g10 was a little rough on the pocked clip side, a little bit of sanding on this side has made this perfect. Prefer the ukpk and urban but this is very light and small and much friendlier looking.
