The Spyderco Sage 1 Cool Grey Maxamet ushers in a new era by supercharging its Michael Walker LinerLock design with a blade crafted from Micro-Melt Maxamet.

Maxamet is an extremely hard powdered tool steel with properties that transcend conventional high-speed steels and approach those of cemented carbides. This knife's full-flat-ground, leaf-shaped blade is paired with a handle featuring full stainless steel liners, a reversible deep-pocket wire clip, and distinctive cool grey peel-ply-textured G-10 scales.

Maxamet G10 Sage-1

When i received this knife I was very impressed with the finish, everything is silky smooth and perfectly aligned. I wanted this knife for the G10 and Maxamet - i wasn't too fussed about another liner-lock but as i said this is about the smoothest working one i have. The blade is obviously super sharp and being Maxamet will undoubtedly retain it's edge for a long while. A word on non-stainless steels, they will tarnish if you don't care for them. I use a thin coat of camellia oil treating all metal surfaces and it does the trick. I'm super happy with this choice; the blade shape is really great too. There were some comments about there being a lot of handle compared to blade and that perhsps this knocks it out of edc territory - i don't agree with that, the knife has a superb ergonomic feel, perhaps on the upper limit of being comfortable in the pocket but i don't think it's an issue at all. Obviously a pricey thing (i've wanted maxamet for a while) but will last a lifetime if you treat it right

Best folder I have by far

I am not a liner lock fan and prefer the compresion or axis lock by far. That was till I got this knife, the ergonomics round this liner lock are fantastic, it is a pleasure to open or close. Maxamet steel, G10 scales, larger size screws & better Taichung finishing make the complete package. This is a Para 3 killer and hope they bring out a maxamet Sage 5 version.
