Description

A recipe for folding knife success: Start with hard-use rated lock. Add a blade made of exotic high carbon steel. Manufacture it in Golden, Colorado using precise tolerances then add a healthy dash of American innovation. These ingredients are the Manix 2, a concoction of solo features when combined make one of the strongest knives from Spyderco to date.

Patented by Spyderco, the Spyderco Manix 2 has a Ball Bearing Lock. It’s a hardened free-floating ball bearing contained in a custom hi-tech polymer cage. It allows the lock to self adjust across a large surface, smoothly and consistently locking-up with solid confidence. Evolving over time, the Ball Bearing Lock’s strength withstands hard work with a secure, versatile and comfortable grip. Ergonomics are peerless in this design. The blade is CPM-S30V and Flat-ground with thumb serrations (jimping) above a super sized 14mm Spyderco Round Hole. The Jimping doesn’t stop there. With full steel liners the scales have jimping that extends beyond the G-10 handle scales scalloping areas of the handle’s perimeter. This one is not slipping out of your hand and works well with gloves on!

    Tenacious upgrade

Posted by Roo on 10th Mar 2019

I bought this as an upgrade to my workhorse Tenacious which in many ways it surpasses, lock, materials etc. The one downside I have found over the Tenacious is the large finger choil. On the Tenacious the sharp edge runs all the way to the scales which makes for easy slicing, especially of sheet materials whereas the Manix seems to get snagged. The choil does provide extra grip but seems to come at the cost of a bit if usability. Still a top bit of kit so full marks.

    Solid

Very solid lock up, feels great in the hand. Nice to see solid liners. Blade geometry is spot on for outdoors tasks. Highly recommended. Again outstanding service from Heinnie Haynes.

Simply the best and it just gets better.

The manix 2 is a t the cutting edge (Forgive the punt!) of folding knife technology. In fact this review is about the manix 2 but the blue special edition (NOT THE LIGHT WEIGHT EDITION ) with the CPM S110V blade. I've put this knife through some hard tough work now like feathering wood and generally hard work and the edge is still able to shave hair !!!. This steel is simply stunning. I got my brother one for his bday and he has only had to touch up the edge on a leather strop. The wear is practically non existent and it just keeps on going . I've got got a CRKT Crawford Casper in cromov steel and all though it is chunkier its ergonomics aren't as.good and well thought out as this little masterpiece. It's like a slipper for your hand but the manix 2 CPM S110V is lighter than its manix 2 brother and there for feels so balanced in your hand and easy to manage. If you are thinking of buying this go for it as it's the best knife you will ever buy bar none !.

    God I love spydies

Posted by Grantee on 7th Apr 2016

Got the xl last year and that is still one of my favourite knives, so I thought I'd get this one as it's still a good size. Another brilliant spydercos knife, rock solid, razor sharp, quick opening, love the lock system. Can't really say anything else, other reviews have said it all, excellent knife and very good for the price. Thanks nick and thanx H.h

    Solid as anything!

Posted by Ben on 20th Aug 2015

Another wonder from Spyderco the Manix 2 is a solid knife and I really haven't got a bad thing to say about it. It feels strong and heavy in the hand due to the solid steel liners and the ball-bearing lock is one of the strongest locks I've ever seen. I only wish this knife was UK legal so I could carry it all the time everyday.

I have a few Spyderco Knives, but this one by far has beaten all the others. It's a well made piece of work that stands up to everything I have thrown at it. Again another outstanding service by Heinnie Haynes, thanks guys.

    Excellent Hard Use Blade

Posted by Kestas on 23rd May 2012

If you are wondering if you should buy this knife, then wonder no more and buy it. USA made, 154CM and hard use are just some of the things that persuaded me to buy this knife. The lock on this knife is excellent. The ball bearing lock locks up as solid as some of the Tri Ad Locks from Cold steel. I have no fear of putting this knife to use in Bushcraft (even though I don't really want to because of the price). I can definitely say that this knife is one of the best I own. Excellent service from Heinnie aswell. BUY IT!
