The Manix 2 has enjoyed a welcome reception since its release in early 2010. The all-black version has a DLC (diamond like coated) black blade, black screws and black silhouette pocket clip.

Just like the non-black version it features an exceptionally strong lock called the Ball Bearing Lock®. The lock consists of a free-floating ball bearing contained in a custom high-tech polymer cage. The round ball bearing allows the lock to self adjust across a large surface, smoothly and consistently locking up with solid confidence.

Nested inside the G-10 handle scales are skeletonized dual steel liners increasing rigidity and strength without the burden of unneeded weight. The liners are scalloped, extending slightly beyond the handle scales creating textured jimping around a large portion of the handle’s perimeter.

The matte black non-reflective blade is Crucible S30V steel, flat-ground with aggressive thumb serrations (jimping) above a super-sized 14mm Spyderco Round Hole. A black three-screw pocket clip is left/right hand friendly and positions the folder for tip-up carry.

    Unbelievable quality

Posted by Psykoman on 15th Jan 2023

I have wanted an all black spyderco for over 15 years and just never was willing to spend on the price tag. I had only ever held uk legal pen knives before and this was fantastic to feel in hand. Suprr sharp out of thr box and the action on this is like butter! I probably wont even use it but pride of ownership is amazing!!

    Spyderco

Posted by Big AL on 10th Sep 2017

What can I say that hasn't already been said ?, it's a Spyderco. Everything is perfect, absolutely no negative points, none. In its all black guise nearly invisible, so remember where you put it down. Very, very nice - buy one immediately.

very happy with this folder, just watch the you tube vids. Read the above reviews. I believe the mk1 came out in 2004 and now the we have the mk2 in 2009. This knife has stood the test of time . I have no down points to share just praise . A folder that need to be in your collection .

    Great Knife!

Posted by John on 15th Aug 2013

This is a great knife, and if you only want one medium sized folder this should be near the top of the short-list. The quality and construction are first class and it fits my medium sized hands perfectly. Was unsure of the black blade at first but have grown to love it. Many thanks to Richard at HH for showing me a few Spyderco folders on a recent visit resulting in this purchase.

    Change of Steel

Posted by Ben on 19th Jun 2013

Just to let any potential buyers know, that as of last year, Spyderco have changed the steel from the 154CM (currently listed) to the S30V crucible steel, an all round better material than the former mentioned type. On ordering from HH, I received the S30V version to my delight. I contact HH to tell them to alter the information listed (twice) but they have still yet to change their listed specs!

    Flawless

Posted by Brian Hamilton on 25th Mar 2011

Spyderco have hit gold here. The Manix II is probably as good a factory produced knife as is possible. The blade is impressively sharp, the edge shaves hairs straight from the box. The DLC is flawless and is incredibly hardwearing. Somehow, it is the handle that has really done it for me with this knife, it holds perfectly in every type of grip and the G10 scales give precision control, perfect for making feather sticks. The jimping is grippy without being aggresive and the deep choil gives massive confidence when performing tought chores. A beautiful knife that begs to be used hard. Highly recommended.
