Spartan V14
I bought one of these about 5 years ago, it is the pinnacle of my military collection. Totally symmetrical, very high quality materials and build quality as is the case with all of their knives. I studied engineering years ago and so I know just how difficult it is to produce this knife to the required standard. Many of our troops swopped them when they could for an American Kbar as they found them less likely to twist in the hand when wet from blood or rain, I have very big hands as did my grandfather who was a captain in the Marines, my goodness he was built like a tank, and he changed his although he preferred a ww1 French bayonet, the one with the long slim blade, I reckon that the term from dad's army of they don't like it up them you know was never a truer word said in jest. He owned a taxi and repair business when ww1 finished then went back to fight again in ww2 despite his advancing years, he could pick up the rear of those old American cars wheels off of the ground, and inch it around to where he wanted it. He was very few of his age (which he lied about )to accomplish his level of fitness and fighting spirit, I had enormous respect for him as a child. The knife handle is in my opinion too small a circumference to get a really good grip, watch the commandos going up the ramps into the back of the planes these days and they will have an alternative knife the kbar being a favourite attached to their kit. However as you are never going to use it in anger, the v14 is the symbol of the SF and all that they stand for. Personally I would go for an American tomahawk, as sold on this site or Coldsteel, they are very effective at taking the upper hand if used with intelligence. But for a collectors/display item the v14 cannot be bettered.
