The Old Timer Splinter Carving Knife from Schrade will keep your hands busy for many a long evening.

This tool is a great introduction to the art of carving and creating items from wood. This folding pocket knife contains six different blades and gouges, from a straight cutting edge, three curved gouges with different radii, and a right angle gouge.

The folding blades are stowed in the Delrin handle, which is smartly set off with metal bolsters. The metal backsprings ensure that the blades are held strongly open, but can easily be closed when not in use.

An excellent starter tool for a life spent carving.

SCHRADE OLD TIMER SPLINTER CARVING KNIFE

If you are like me, and not impressed by brand names, then you are in for a treat. This is not high tensile steel. But it's strong enough to whittle any piece of wood you throw at it. this knife is perfect for EDC and enjoying a hobby that will use every blade in the set. This is not for professional whittlers, but then I see many have made the purchase and lauded its value. For the price of a few beers, you will have an awesome tool that will bring many years of pleasure.

Very good for the money , some of the various blades could have been sharper but not a problem to sort out.

Great mix of Blades , gouges and scoops, need a bit of sharpening and smoothing, but for the price it is fantastic. Chisel blade needs to be 'stumpier'

Came with rough edges and not sharp enough but once fixed it is a fine carving tool and worth the price.

It needed a few rough edges sanding off and wasn’t that sharp out of the box but after a bit of sharpening and stropping it became a great tool and I would recommend it.

Great in the hand

It arrived in less than 24hrs thanks to Hinnie’s brilliant service, the detail blade was like a razor out of the box but I had to put a little work into the other blades. I was expecting that however after reading previous reviews, it’s great in the hand and easy to control and that’s coming from a southpaw. On the whole I thoroughly recommend it for carving on the go or at home.
