The Schrade Axe 2 is a highly useful piece of equipment with the added bonus of an included fire starter which is stored within the handle. The blade is 3Cr13 stainless steel whilst the handle is rubber which gives a superb grip. It is supplied with a plastic cover with a popper.

The Schrade Axe 2 is an excellent tool to add to your outdoor gear, it's is insanely sharp out of the box for an axe, the heavy duty sheath although a little clumsy does the job well, although I think I may change it for a leather one. The grip feels natural and gives a good working angle to the cutting edge, the reverse of the blade provides a sturdy pommel / hammer, although it would be better if the sheath left this exposed when fitted. And to boot there's a fire steel in the base of the handle that's a real super snug fit ( what a bonus ) this definitely a quality bit of kit that should be in your backpack.
