Rough Rider Work Knife

A very good everyday work tool that also looks good!

It is a solid working knife, on the heavy side, mine come with the blade touching the side, just had to wedge it for awhile to get it centred.

I bought mine 12 years ago and gave it 5 stars then and still give it 5 stars today.

I was very curious about Rough Rider as a brand and ordered their well-reviewed Work Knife for this reason. The knife community regards Rough Rider very well because of the good price-performance ratio. The knife comes in simple packaging so no money is spend on that. The knife itself is also very plain looking. The pictures on this website are very flattering. In reality the micarta is the type that’s look and feels like plastic and the micarta layers are only faintly visible. The shield on the bolster is missing on my sample. The knife comes very dirty and cleaning it isn’t very easy because of the pinned construction of the knife. One of the bolsters is cracked and you can feel the pins sticking out. Blade centering is awful and there is some blade rub. Even after cleaning and oiling the knife it is still hard to open. Maybe it will go smoother after some use. I don’t care much about this knife and if you are looking for a well-made understated traditional pocketknife I would advise to look further.

Proabably the most solid feeling folder i own, this knife is a mixture of a solid slipjoint that someone has added a liner lock (with nearly 90% lockup) to resulting in one one hell of a robust knife for a folder, has a nice clean finish to start with but picks up scratches easily but for this price thats not a big deal the only problem is the liner lock its self can become a bit of a hotspot as it was a little sharp but after sanding and rounding it off it wa perfect..

This is essentially a locking large Sodbuster. The crosslock is very positive, and the back spring is also very firm., so I don't think it will close on your fingers unless you do something epicly stupid. Only complaint I have, and it is the reason why I say "not abso!utly perfect," is the gring on one side is flawless but the otherside is distinctly off. Does not affect the edge but is somewhat less than estheticly pleasing. Other than that I am very pleased.

This knife arrived this morning and on first impressions I was pretty impressed a 10 quid knife. After a full shift at work, prepping the Veg for dinner and some small game prep I'm amazed at the quality of this knife. Blade shape is great holds a good edge and came sharp out the box. The fit and finish is not perfect but way better than you'd expect for a cheap knife. Great solid knife and great service from Heinnie's as always.

I really like this, got it as a Christmas prezzie (early) and I love it.

unlike the description given, this is NOT a slip joint knife it is a linerlock knife. when opened the brass liner kicks in and holds the blade open; to close the knife, you depress the protruding brass liner and fold the knife closed, in my book that makes it a lock knife, as it locks the blade in place! i love the size of the blade and also the classic shape as it looks great, and is sharp out of the box. the handle on the other hand, is comfortable and a good shape,but nothing like the one in the picture, it is def not micarta and feels and looks like cheap plastic, and the brass parts are slightly raised above the rest of the surface of the handle. but for the price its still a good knife, its just a shame its not a nice micarta one like in the picture.
