    Rough rider split back whittler

Posted by Jim on 25th Mar 2021

Excellent value, the fit and finish on this knife for the price you pay is superb. Genuine split back, half stops, came general purpose sharp out of the box. All three blades honed up easily, and hold a good edge. When they’re back in stock, I’m going to get another. Very happy customer Heinnie, thank you.

Great little knife, this is the second one that I’ve brought, sharp and ready to use straight out of the box,. I carry this knife with me every day, stays sharp, comfy in the hand and smart looking. All this backed up by the usual first class serv

    Superrb knife

Posted by Antig weslake on 18th Feb 2020

I bought one for my self just based on the reviews. Not sure what to expect but at £15 ish if it's no good well lifes a learning curve.. Well wasn't disappointed what a superb little knife , Sharp as a razor out of the box. I have not done anything other than strop it when needed . They are so g²od that I have bought 2 more as presents and will shortly buy another. First class every day pocket knife. And have not done any whittling since I was a scout and it's good fun. Buy one just for the hell of it you won't be dissappointed, and if you are Heinnie Hayes will sort it double quick time.

I used it a a general pen knife and it is with me all the time. Never lets me down but I have let it down and have lost it!Grrrrrrrrr Just come on line to buy a replacement as I hate being without it. I have bought two more of these for my grandsons. They love it to bits.

    Very nice knife

Posted by Weslake on 3rd Sep 2019

Read all the reviews but thought they might be too good to be true. However I bought one only had it a day and it's done some hard work out of the box. But I am sure I can get it sharper and a good strop won't do any harm. Very well pleased £15.

    great little knife

Posted by Tricky on 29th Oct 2017

No gappiness at all in the fit and finish, a solid little main blade, a fantastic, solid back spring, came fairly sharp out of the box, the bone handle scales are really nice and very grippy. Fantastic, a great little knife.

    excellent

Posted by Mike on 19th Jun 2017

I've been wood carving with knives for over 30 years & have owned just about every carving knife out there , folding or fixed blade . You might be put off by the 440 stainless steel but don't be , RR. have took this steel & together with the heat treatment & the all impotant profile & design have come up with a really nice woodcarving knife . I can compare the edge with anything outside of laminated steel ( & that has it's disadvantages) from anybody regardless of cost ! Get it sharp & you can keep it shaving sharp with only a few slicks on the strop every 10 mins . My whittler has not seen a stone for over a year despite hundreds of hours of carving. The blades still snap open & are firm enough to strop without snapping closed. Great knives at an affodable price , I have "case , bulldog, old shrades & boker folders & the fit & finnish & the edge somtimes equal RR. but very rarely surpass it . Lots of American collectors like to believe that the old traditional brands are far superior , they are NOT ! I've tried them all. RR. represent excellent value for money but don't impress a collector but If you are a USER get one you'll be impessed.
