Brown stag Bone Cotton Sampler
Ive had this unusual blade shaped model for over two years now but as I carry it as my EDC quite often I thought it was worthy of a review . When I first saw this one advertised through HHs it didnt really have any appeal to me and so passed over it a few times . After starting my Rough Ryder collection I decided to pull the trigger just for the unusual shape and glad I did so ! First of all as a collector I like to get a knife with all the right ticks , so the overall fit and finish , central blade allignment , good walk and talk with zero blade movement , great transitions between scales and bolster and hardly any gapping ticked all the right boxes. On this model the brown stag bone scales were absolutely gorgeous and the pictures on Heinnies site do not do this knife justice ! The handle itself is longer and slightly curved and with the stag bone makes for a good grip . It is finished off with brass liners giving it that traditional quality look . Now the blade itself which I would probably describe as a broad scalpel style which had its original intended use for cotton mills / bale workers to test the strength and quality of the cotton strands . Now that apart this particular shaped blade makes for a great and varied use EDC , cutting , slicing . food prep and could even be utilised as a craft workers knife / model making ! Whatever it makes a nice collectors piece and is in fact a sturdy knife overall .
