The Rough Rider Classic Carbon Series features carbon steel blades, yellow composition handles, “Slant R” nickel silver bolsters and a special Classic Carbon shield. All the blades have a half stop and feature match strike pulls. You'll struggle to get a more traditional, quality penknife at such a bargain price.

The Rough Rider Sowbelly features three non-locking blades all under three inches long, so the knife is UK friendly carry. Great for your pack or pocket, for all those day to day jobs in the office or out in the sticks.

    Great but wonky

Posted by James Simpson on 28th Mar 2022

Great service from HH (this should appear in this field to save all of us some typing). This is my first sowbelly stockman and a carbon steel rough rider. Such a great knife for carving. The sheepfoot blade is so good for carving and marking wood. I have put s forced patina on the blades to help protect them and it slso gives the steel a good feel. The only problem is that the main blade is way pff centre.

    Classic carbon Sowbelly

Posted by Spencer Dodds on 8th Jan 2022

Great knife for the price. The blades open and close with a crisp snap with a half stop. The finish it good although not perfect but is to be expected at the price. The knife feels comfortable in the hand and performs the basic tasks I’ve given it so far well although I had to spend some time getting all three blades profiles in order. I have found this to be a down side to Rough Rider knives in general, I’ve usually had to spend up to an hour on each knife to get a usable profile and sharpen them. But I’m happy to do that as at the end I have a good looking vintage style working knife for under twenty quid.

    Rough Rider Classic Carbon Sowbelly

Nice little knife, all the blades have a firm opening and closing action and are as sharp as I've come to expect from RR, better than a lot of brands more expensive than these.

    Maybe Very Good

Posted by Tricky on 3rd Nov 2020

The good things about this knife, the handle section is built like a tank, the springs are good and solid. The sheep's foot blade demolishes wood. The steel is very good to use on wood. The not so good things, there's a small crack in the scales above one of the pins which so far isn't an issue, There's a few spaces in between the liners but t nothing I'd return it for. The main issue, the tip of the main blade seems slightly crooked and may or may not be on the weak side. It seems OK but I'm not going to put it to any extreme tests.. Overall, a good knife though time will tell if the main blade tip will become a problem. Will just have to be a little careful till I know what it can do without breaking.

    Rough Rider sowbelly Carbon

Posted by Robert on 14th Oct 2020

I bought this as I have read good things about the T10 carbon steel used, and the price is very reasonable. The fit and finish is what you might expect at this price point, mine has a crack in one of the scales and the scales don't fit perfectly. However the blades are very sharp and have a decent halfstop, and a good back spring. All in all its a very decent penknife and I am looking forward to using it and seeing how the steel holds up

    Superb example

Posted by Andy on 27th Aug 2020

My first Rough Rider pocket knife and I am extremely impressed with it. I had read a ton of reviews and seen some videos on the Ytube and was curious. Could a sub £20 Chinese pocket knife really be as good as they say? Er... hell yes! I have closely examined the finish on this knife and it would really be nitpicking to mark it down. It is so minor a flaw I would forgive it on a Case costing four times as much. And I REALLY had to look for it! Suffice it to say that it’s cosmetic and would probably go unnoticed by day to day users. The knife is smartly presented in a substantial presentation box with a magnetic clasp. It looks great. The knife blades all had a thin film of light oil on them and a quick wipe with a cloth revealed the gleam of sharp steel. And these blades are sharp. Truly sharp. I was feathering the edges of my invoice letter quicker than you can say Heinnie Haynes! No stropping , just straight in . Very impressed. It arrived much sharper than my S&W knives did. I already have a Rough Rider Tobacco Road Canoe style knife on back order. And if it’s of comparable quality to this Sowbelly Stockman, then Rough Rider will have gained a long term devotee collector/user of their pocketknives. I don’t believe in display collection, I’m a firm believer that these are quality tools and should be used. Look, at these prices you would be foolish to not try one out. I am so glad I did.

Excellent price ,quality , fit and finish with a facial hair cutting sharpness straight out of the box. Looking forward to buying another five RR high carbon slipjoints so I'll have a different EDC for each day of the week because my daughter also bo

Lovely presentation with excellent fit and finish of the high carbon sowbelly. So happy my daughter bought this slip joint for me. This knife surprised me that not only it is hair popping sharp out the box, but facial hair cutting sharp. Last knife I bought that sharp was an expensive cold steel knife. I look forward to heinnie Haynes expanding the rough rider carbon steel range, as there are other patterns you don't stock.

    Sow belly blades

I bought this a very well made good looking knife but the blades snap very easily secon rr knife I have snapped the end of blade off. I know I shouldn't have been doing what I did with this knife but I did I have done it with other brands and got away with I was prying a token out of a shopping trolley. So be aware.
