Rite Edge strop, does exactly what you want it do, attached to my work bench at home with a nice useful clip, keeps a very nice edge on my knives without sharpening and ofcourse finishes of any freshly sharpened knives with ease, can be used with compound on the leather side if you like i haven't and it still works great. I bought this item because of it's value. I'd like to, having read lots of blogs, start trying to strop my freshly-sharpened, or recently used blades. At this price I don't mind if I can't master the technique! Brilliant piece of strong leather, with a solid clip.

I had always just used an old leather belt to strop knives but bought this out of curiosity and am pleasantly surprised at the difference having the proper kit makes. Thick, tough and my knives are now super-sharp!

Been searching for a long time for a good old fashioned strop. I can remember watching in fascination as my Grandfather used to strop his cut throat razor prior to shaving, on a very similar type of strop. Two textures of leathers and a good sturdy clip to anchor it to your wall or work bench. It really makes that final difference from sharp to shaving sharp. Now following the debate closely on whether to use a stropping compound. Been advised not too as the leather itself contains all the compounds necessary. Tested it on a few of my knives and what very surprised at the difference it can make..
