Few hunting knives can genuinely be called legendary, but the PUMA White Hunter has earned that distinction. Developed in Solingen in 1956 with input from the East African Professional Hunters Association, its distinctive blade was conceived as a versatile hunting and outdoor tool capable of tackling a wide variety of field tasks. The unusual upswept cutting edge provides plenty of working surface, while the substantial full-tang construction and characteristic jimping reflect its origins as a serious working knife. The design proved enormously successful: PUMA and its variants have reportedly sold more than 1.5 million examples worldwide, and almost seven decades later the White Hunter remains one of the German maker's most recognisable knives.
The Stag version is the White Hunter in its quintessential form, retaining the natural stag handle material closely associated with the original 1950s knife.
