The PDW Apex Boonie Hat is a modern interpretation of a field classic, built around the RECCE-style short brim—a modification that emerged from jungle operations during the Vietnam era and remains one of the most functional profiles for outdoor headwear.

An adjustable shock-cord system around the crown allows the fit to be precisely tuned for comfort or increased retention during high-movement activities. The traditional chin strap provides additional security and can also be cinched from the rear. Unique to the Apex Boonie is its engineered slit-vent system, providing airflow without the rigid metal screens commonly used on traditional boonies. This improves comfort and eliminates hardware that can corrode after repeated exposure to saltwater.

Bug-proof NoSeeUm mesh backs the vents to maintain airflow while keeping small insects out. A synthetic micro-suede sweatband improves hot-weather comfort and helps reduce friction during extended wear. Inside, a lightweight 70D nylon ripstop map pocket provides discreet storage for permits, licenses, maps, or other small essentials.
