    Ontario Rat II D2

Posted by MARTIN on 20th Oct 2020

As always, a fast and efficient service from H.H. The knife scores 4 stars for a few reasons: the handle is ever so slightly small for my medium size hands, the scales are not as "grippy" as I would like and the blade is very much off centre. That said, I really like this knife. It sits comfortably and unobtrusively in my pocket and is truly left-hand friendly - a deal breaker for me.I am awaiting notification of when the D1 is back in stock.I am looking forward to comparing two excellent value for money knives.Rat 1 or Rat II you cannot go wrong.

    Best EDC for the Money

I was looking for something affordable as my first knife, was recommended this model a bunch. Very pleased with the fit and finish, and came sharp out of the box. Highly recommend.

    R2D2

Posted by Cicero on 10th Oct 2020

This has got to be the sweet-spot of affordable foldable pocket knives. Strong construction, easy one-hand deployment, good blade shape, steel and factory edge, reasonable weight, feels right in the hand, and a great reputation. If there is a downside, I've not found it yet. A scaled down Rat 1, but this is the one you'll have on you when you need it.

    Understated excellence.

Posted by Jim on 25th Oct 2019

First is the incredible speed it was delivered. Ordinary delivery specified but was here the next day. The knife is a really nice weight and it's easy not to be aware it's in your pocket. The action is light, easy and so smooth. Fl*ck if you want. Might even be quicker not to; its so easy. The flat grind gives the immediate impression of a real workhorse. I think this knife will get some use. Not just drooled over for its aesthetics and fl*ckability. Very pleased indeed. Overall not to forget this has been a very positive Heinnie Haynes experience.

    Astonishing Value

Posted by Singleagain on 3rd Jul 2019

The R2D2' gets pretty much universal praise from reviewers, and it's easy to see why. The AUS8 version at £39.95 is a good deal, but the D2 version for only £48.95 is an absolute steal. The only very slight downside for me initially was the choice of handle colour “ I wanted black FRN (which is what the AUS8 version has) but HH can only supply the R2D2' with Olive Drab or Tan handles, although I note that the previous reviewer had a special order brown handle. I checked with Nick and they couldn't do black. There is a version with carbon fibre scales (which is also available from HH) but I discounted that after watching a web review in which they looked just a tad too plasticky'. All of which is a bit beside the point because I really like the Olive Drab version now I have it. The knife itself lives up to the hype. It is very light, very compact, and very sharp! I don't have any issue with the FRN scales. Maybe G10 would have been nicer, but this is a budget knife. The blade centering is spot on, the deployment is so fast as to be simply amazing, with great lock-up. The ergonomics are great. AND it has a four position clip “ and yes, I know I keep banging on about reversible clips for us lefties! It's not hard to see why the RAT 2 is one of the most popular EDC knives in the USA, and but for our UK knife laws I suspect the same would be true here. All it needs to be perfect is a deep carry pocket clip “ which is available if you know where to look. Feedback from various knife forums suggests that the RAT 2 in D2 steel is out of stock pretty much everywhere at present, so if you get the chance I would grab one while you can. Lightning fast service from HH as ever “ thanks.

    Pocket razor

Posted by Darren on 20th Feb 2018

Heinnies special ordered the coyote brown scaled version for me, the knife is small, razor sharp, perfectly centered and with solid lockup. Plus I was notified of them getting it Monday, and it was in my hand Tuesday,
