    Good value camp knife

Great for food prep and light bushcraft. Very well balanced. Small amount of rust showing though. Surprised as it's stainless steel. Excellent service from HH. l

    A utilitarian masterpiece!

Posted by Martin Atton on 13th Jan 2020

I live in a rural area, as does my middle aged son, his son and two daughters. As a proud grandfather I am pleased to say that my son and his three children each have a Mora knife. The four of them all own a different model! I have just joined the Mora club with my own recently purchased Kansbol. Manufactured to a very high standard and superbly designed. All the blade grinds are spot on and the extra fine grind at the tip makes for efficient skinning and provides a terrific fl*sh slicing capability. The much heavier wedge grind nearer the handle gives plenty of strength for powerful cutting when dealing with wood in the forest. The ergonomics are superb, with a very comfortable grippy handle that fits into my large hand perfectly. The knife was razor sharp right out of the box and I was also impressed by the simple but very durable sheath that holds the knife firmly in place. Mora seem to have the bushcraft fraternity very well provided for, by manufacturing knives at various price points, utilising both carbon and stainless steel. All the knives are made to be used and the designers are clearly outdoor enthusiast themselves. The common theme running through the whole range, is just how well they are made for the purpose they are designed for and that every model will serve you well in the woods and outdoors in general. My son is a responsible parent and supervises his children on their trips to the woods. I am so proud to see them all developing the practical skills that hopefully they will be able to pass on to their own children one day. All in all, another great knife to add to my vast collection. Lightweight, beautifully designed and built to be used as a wonderful versatile tool. So obviously designed and manufactured by outdoor enthusiasts. Mora really know what they are doing!

a brilliant "all-round" first bushcraft knife

Posted by Alijami on 29th Mar 2019

I had need to do a little whittling at home. I turned to my UK legal Boar folder, my only Scandi grind knife. It did a good job but made me think it was now time to get a fixed blade for home and garden use. I looked through HH and noticed the Mora Kansbol, described as the "ultimate all-rounder". This is because it has a generous flat Scandi section at full spine thickness and a tapered and rounded section towards the tip. So wood processing and skinning in the same knife. This really is a brilliant first bushcraft knife and a brilliant secondary bushcraft knife. I wouldn't recommend battoning because of the tapering towards the tip but can't see why sensible chopping couldn't be undertaken on the full thickness section. Note however it is not full tang. Another thing I like, "sensible" 12C27 steel, which in the era of supersteels I consider to be a perfect blend of corrosion resistance, resistance to chipping and tip breakage, adequate edge retension and ease of sharpening. If you agree get one now before supersteel sentiment wipes out "sensible" steel availability. Comes with a great polymer scabard.

So Good I Shave With It

Posted by If it's not industrial it's broken on 17th Jun 2018

This is a brilliant knife, the blade is so good i now use it to shave when the mood takes me. Balance is excellet and sits naturally in my hand, if i were to have a custom knife made, it would end up exactly like this knife but with a walnut handle, that said the Mora handle is a perfect fit and 100% confident grip for any task. I replaced the sheath for leather and re-ground the spine for fire stick striking. my only criticism is the edge is ground fully to the handle, this needed to have been made solid as it now forms an awkward curve in the edge and scuffed the handle when sharpening. All said and done, for the money its the best knife i've found in this class of knife.
