This is a great quality fire starter which feels very robust with a good solid handle. It generates a good volume of powerful sparks with very little effort when using the spine of my Mora Bushcraft Black . The firesteel fits very snugly and is held solidly in the attachment point on the sheath which comes with the survival version of the Bushcraft Black, but it you have the standard sheath the hole in the handle of the firesteel easily allows you pass some paracord through it so you can hang it round your neck. The most reliable and effective firesteel I have ever owned.
I thought these were a bit expensive. However trusting reviews and HH's policy of best kit, I bought two to replace rods in kits and my BOB. I agree that the sparks seem brighter, and keener to catch. Any advantage in getting your fire or stove going are very welcome. Attachment of the rod to a cord / bigger handle was my only concern. The photo doesn't show it, but a decent lanyard hole is present. In conclusion, worth the extra, whether you are a frequent user or need a reliable failure-safe. Thanks as always HH.
Best Fire Steel' I have. The sparks it generates are so powerful. You can hold the rod away from the tinder and watch them land on it and ignite the tinder with ease. I agree with other reviews for it on the internet, it's probably 'One of the Best' there is. Usual super fast delivery from HH
Roughly the same size as the original Light My Fire Army ferro red, requires the same amount of force as the LMF to spark, but the sparks seem hotter (white rather than yellowish). Readily lit some Maya stick scrapings, this is a fine addition to a survival or bushcraft kit.
