This can hold its own in the company of F1s and the like, only this one is far more useful for the daily stuff that needs a thin sharp blade rather than a "sharpened pry bar" like the Falkniven range tend to be like. The expensive knives will take more of of a beating, absolutely - but be real about it, when did you last give a knife a beating? The harshest use I've given mine was a couple of trials at battoning, but again in truth I'd far rather use my little GB hatchet for that line of country. This knife excels at being sharp, staying sharp and in conditions when it's hard to keep things dry only a SS blade makes sense unless you want to be forever babying your knife with keeping it dry somehow and oiling the blade to ensure its surface never takes a spot of rust. These Mora knives are maybe slightly softer than some, but they''re also easier to keep sharp as well. Less easy than a decent carbon blade, but even so it's no struggle to keep these things sticky-sharp if that's how you like them. With mine I've filleted a dozen small cod easily enough, but for that it does need a little extra edge work. The blade''s not shaped right for that job but if you're careful and adjust your angles with a little patience, you can do just about everytihing with one of these. For filleting, the more basic models from this cutlery range would do better as the blades are shallower from edge to spine, this one's a bit on the broad side to fit filleting well, but it did the job with minimal wastage of flish. UK use is hardly ever going to approach the sort of pattern common in places where The Wild extends for hundreds of miles in every direction, this is a small country with maybe several dozen miles keeping us from "civilisation" even in NW Scotland. I'm in East Central Scotland and the knives I own are nearly all OTT for my actual NEEDS. But the Mora set of blades, even at its lower end, provides cutters to answer almost every need in camping and fishing/hiking/shooting. With prices of everything ever escalating I don't know how they can make these things for the price they do, I guess they must be making them by the million to get economies of huge scale to keep the prices low?

It does what it says on the tin, I've been working with this knife since last year and it can take a nuclear edge when honed. Handle is really comfortable, the sheath is well designed and can be used for left hand or right hand carry.the little leather strap with the button slit is a nice touch. On to the price, in all honesty, I think it's totally worth it, Morakniv have a solid reputation for quality at a budget, this knife is certainly no exception. My belief is that the price point is Dead on!
