MKM, or Maniago Knife Makers, is a consortium representing knife-makers from ‘the home of knives’ around the world. The company is headquartered in Maniago itself, around 70 miles from Venice in the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia (Italy). Founded in 1960, the consortium brings together makers of knives, scissors and similar products, and for almost 60 years it has been promoting all things Made in Maniago. The brand MKM, already in use in the past, has been revamped and relaunched, with the aim of offering the market new collections, created through partnerships with local knife-makers.

The very first MKM-branded collection is quite extraordinary, both in terms of its technology and its production philosophy. Five sporting knives, in 28 different versions, thought up by two world-renowned designers, Bob Terzuola and Lucas Burnley.

The Jouf is a fixed blade of outstanding quality. Designed by Bob Terzuola it bears all the hallmarks of a classic knife. It has a full tang construction with Bohler N690Co blade steel in a choice of stonewash or black cerakote finish. The handle is 3D machined G10 with stainless steel screws with a blue anodised Titanium ferrule on the first screw. It is supplied with a Cordura sheath.

    DECENT STYLE KNIFE

Posted by Simon on 17th May 2020

Bought this knife fro HH a little over a year ago at time of writing. Lovely blade geometry and finishing. I have the satin / stonewashed finished. The handle is really good and grippy. Took me ages to sharpen the edge on this but once you have the hang of it (its a tough steel) then it holds a very good edge. Spine is slightly rounded on the corners so won't be striking a firesteel any time soon but its not really designed for that. Overall its beautifully made and great value for money.

    Beautifully crafted, sheath is afterthought.

Beautifully crafted knife, quite sharp out of the box but not shaving sharp. Grumbled over which model to get ! The stone wash looked better, but went for the coated blade in the end. Handle is comfortable in my large hand and feels like there is little risk of my hand riding forward onto the blade. Sheath isn’t as such as an eyesore as expected and it appears to be ambitious, which as a lefty is a must. The sheath appears to be functional but a bit of an afterthought, they could have done so much better and is probably the only thing it is let down on. Always wanted this knife, it’s a useful usable size, toyed with the fallkniven S1, but wanted something a little different from the norm and with a more comfortable handle than the fallkniven’s I already have. It’s also ? limited numbers run which bent my arm. Altogether knife feels more crafted, sheath appears to be more of an afterthought.
