The Midgards-Messer Shield Sights is the first UK carry folder from those masters of hefty, solid knives. With an almost 5mm thick blade and a 16mm thick handle, including the removable pocket clip, the Shield Sights has a construction to be reckoned with.

The D2 carbon steel blade is non-locking and under three inches long making it legal to carry within the UK. However the knife is supplied with a screwable pin that can be inserted through the blade and handle in the open position thus securing the blade into the open position.

The handle is made from Titanium with a circular sight motif cut out of both scales. The pocket clip is Titanium too and a lanyard hole allows the user a choice of carry options.

    UK Friendly???

Posted by Martin L on 26th Apr 2024

It's an incredible beast of a tool but, I wouldn't get carrying that pin too close to the actual knife... Not here in the UK anyway! I think the rozzers will take more than just an interest, even if the pin is only on your keyring or in your wallet! And at £300+ I personally wouldn't risk getting it confiscated, and ending up before the courts for my trouble! - 'Yes Your Honour, the pin's to stop it... Opening? And closing by accident!!!' ;-)

    Poor design

Posted by Tom Bugler on 27th Sep 2023

The most ridiculous design for the lockout pin. There is nowhere for it to go on the knife without locking the blade shut. The tip of the pin is then threaded so many times it takes about 15 rotations to remove, which not only takes a while but means you can’t even fit a cord from the knife to the pin, as the cord gets tangled due to the number of rotations required to screw the pin in. On top of that it arrived blunt. Very very poor attempt.

    Chunkyish

Considering the thickness of the blade stock the Shield Sight is surprisingly delicate feeling in the hand. The American Tanto is sharp enough and the handle comfortable. It's a lot of money for D2 steel though.
