Description

Based in the Portland Works, Sheffield where over 100 years ago Harry Brearley developed stainless steel for cutlery use, Michael May uses centuries old craftsmanship and knife patterns to create traditional pocket knives. By owning a Michael May knife you can claim your own little piece of history and be at the forefront of a reinvigorated and rich cutlery making past.

This particular model, the Michael May Bog Oak Lambfoot, has dark natural scales carved from 5000 year old bog oak wood, accented with brass bolsters & liners.

Hand ground 01 tool carbon steel makes up the lambsfoot blade of this folding knife, with a 60mm cutting edge on a slipjoint, making it UK legal.

Michael May Lambsfoot Bog Oak Folding Knife

Posted by Ted on 14th Jan 2026

My partner bought me this knife for Christmas. I was really looking forward to getting it; it's a great-looking design, and I really like the materials Michelle is using. Unfortunately, it's a bit of a disappointment. The parts are rustic, which I like; for example, the scales are evidently hand-finished, giving it a nice feel. However, other elements are rushed, unfinished, and show little attention to detail. There is a chunk of metal missing at the base of the handle, gaps between the wood and bolster, it's got a rough finish on bits of metal that should have been polished smooth it feels like you get mental splinters when I rube my finger on it . I appreciate its hand made and takes time to produce but £130 I would have liked more attention to detail, it doesn't feel finished and like I said a bit rushed. I hope they sort it out because it is a really attractive design and I like that there hand made in Sheffield but yeah disappointed with mine
