MecArmy EK16 Utility 18

Firstly this is a really nicely made knife. Really nice finishing and little touches like the tiny torx bolts holding the frame together. The little knurled slider ‘button’ is great too, if unlike me - you can work it out and realise that you push it in to release the catch so that it slides into the open or closed position. I daftly thought that you had to unfasten it as it must be locked in a transport position. DOH! How many times did I faff with it before I worked it out that it was a button to press and then it effortlessly slides into the next position. So heads up for anyone as silly as me. I’ve ordered some of the blades listed by another reviewer. I have a feeling it’ll look even better with the gold blades.

Excellent, well made utility knife. I tried SMS blades which worked fine after I opened the holes out a bit with a round needle file. The best blades I have found are Wolfcraft 4173000 which are slightly thicker than the SMS blades and the holes are perfectly sized. They are German made and very high quality.

Once we saw martinc found spare blades, convinced completely how good this is. SBS blades come in cases too soeasy to carry spares. Husband uses it for work, cutting gaskets, seals and masking tape.

I have found spare blades on Amazon they are SBS trapezoid blades with holes

DO NO BUY unfortunately there are no spare blades available (which after initial reluctance Heinnie Hayes now agree) As this is a holder for these blades it in effect valueless until spares are procured

Lovely knife, well made ect but getting blades that fit are very difficult. The size of holes are crucial when buying blades & at present have a selection of packets that all look identical to original but just don't work!!!
