Cracking shovel great at cutting roots as you dig and makes a great axe as well :-)

    spade shaped machete

Posted by Tris on 11th Jun 2014

this is much more a spade shaped machete, than a sharp spade. I dont think it would be much for digging. its not much of a hammer, and its no frying pan. for chopping against an anvil log it works like a machete, ( apart from you cant batton it ) but because its so wide, it seems to get much closer to your head, when chopping, than a machete. not an issue, just unnerving. it will take a machete edge with a bit of a polish from a Falkniven DC4 ( or the stone in the sheath ), and it holds its edge. it can keep up with my Cold Steel stuff. the handle is pretty pants, its not even cut square, dont bother with it, just slip some innertube over it. the black paint ed stripes are handpainted. I would love to be able to throw it. you should get the sheath too, the sheath is pretty good, I would prefer a couple of mm more slack in it. its not a quick draw sheath and it does get a bit clunky when its in the sheath. the pockets on the sheath are very helpful ( firesteel ), and it comes with a sharpener. the spade you really want is the Cold Steel one.
