    Its a well made sheath

Posted by Aaron G on 24th Jul 2019

It covers the cutting edge, prtects me from cutting my gear in transport, pocket is a bonus for small odss and sods. Only advise I would give and to Mike put knife in the right way :)

    Very Poor Design

Posted by Mike on 26th Jul 2016

This sheath has not been designed well at all and is unsafe to use. The opening flap sits on the edge-side of the blade, meaning the left hand needs to be used to unfasten the flap and hold it out of the way when drawing the knife, placing the hand right next to the edge of the blade. Needless to say, this is a very dangerous piece of design. If the flap is not held out of the way when drawing the knife then the blade will quite quickly cut through the fabric of the flap. The blade does not sit fully inside the sheath, leaving the top 10-15mm of the cutting edge exposed. If the sheath is worn at the waist then the risk of cutting the hand, wrist or arm by simply brushing up against the sheath is very high. Again, this is due to the flap being on the wrong side of the sheath. The pockets clash quite badly, rendering them pointless. If any items at all are placed in the top pocket then they need to be removed and the pocket flattened each time the sharpening stone is drawn. Even with the top pocket flattened there is a good deal of tugging, twisting and pulling required to remove the stone from the lower pocket. The stone itself is quite coarse (about 400g at a guess) and is suitable only for tidying up nicks in the blade, not for applying a keen edge. The top pocket is more or less unusable, but will take a small tea-light candle with a little room to spare. A simple redesign would turn this product into a rather good, serviceable sheath. The flap should be placed on the other side and the pockets angled so the contents can be retrieved. Unfortunately there is no DIY fix for these problems and therefore I have to consider this sheath to be useless - even dangerous.
