    Update to my last.

Posted by Mark on 21st Jul 2012

I have to re-rate this tool to a five. Having used this tool for a month now to cut up boxes, cut wire and deal with screws I am impressed. I don't know what Leatherman have done to their knives but the blades on the Rebar take a decent edge, keep it for a reasonable time and are dead easy to sharpen. The replaceable 154cm wire cutters show absolutely no sign of rolling which, as I know from experience, is damned unusual for a Multitool. Can opener works as advertised. Handles are unacceptably comfortable in plyer mode. Pliers are most acceptable. Basically I wish they had brought this one out year's ago. Serious advice: Buy one.

    PST for the 21st century.

I had a hard time deciding how to rate this tool. It's an interesting mix. At the price point of this tool I was not expecting the Earth. I both got what I was expecting, and more than I was expecting. Let me explain: The build quality if the body and the fitting of the tool's is reminicent of the original PST. Body is stamped out of medium gauge stainless steel. Not machined like high end tools. The actual tools and the pliers are of decent quality, in fact they are better than I personally would have expected it this price point. A lot better. Biggest issue for some people is going to be the fit and finish. It's what you expect at this price point. No issue to me. Hence the four. The selection of tools is excellent and I do like the replacable wire cutters. If your in the market for a usable tool at a reasonable price then buy this. Ditto if buying someone their first multitool..

    Marvelous

This is a marvelous example of back to basics redesign. Good sturdy functional multitool that could probably take quite a bit of abuse. The knife blades are a tad thin, but beautifully shaped and fantastically sharp. Best of all, it's quite light so easily carried on a belt and it fits the old pre 2004 Wave pouch perfectly.
