    Lansky superfine ceramic hone

Posted by Chris Bray on 27th Nov 2023

This is a very fine hone and only suitable for putting a polished edge on an already sharp blade, removes next to nothing leaving a shiny edge or highlighting an uneven edge. Best to go through the grits to achieve a sticky sharp result.

    Diamond hone

Posted by Mitchell on 7th Jul 2023

Works well with the Lansky kit..The weak point is the screw, don't tighten it too much or the plastic will fail. But these are so cost effective that it's not that much of a big deal just to replace it.

    Extra coarse diamond

Posted by sm on 15th Mar 2022

Why have I just discovered diamond sharpening?? This stone is really aggressive and really works quickly compared to a stone of the same grit. I only wish I knew this before I reprofiled a D2 knife with the normal stones which took forever.

    Black Hard Natural Arkansas (White)

Posted by Kevin Colwill on 27th Mar 2013

I bought the Black Hard Natural Arkansas hone (which Lansky put in a white housing!)to add to my basic three hone set. The course, medium and fine hones do a good job but this one takes it on a level. The stone appears to be some sort of black slate and feels smooth to the touch. When you add a few drops of oil it glides over the blade with little or no discernible resistance. When, however, you wipe the hone you see some it has removed some steel. It polishes the bevel and puts a very keen edge on the blade. I can't say how it compares to the Ultra Fine (Yellow) or the Fine Diamond (Gold) hones but it's certainly is a step up in finish and sharpness from the standard Fine (Blue) hone.

CRACKING QUICK AND EFFECTIVE SHARPENER. EASY TO RE PROFILE AN EDGE WITH ACCURATE AND CONSISTENT RESULTS. ESPECIALLY GOOD IF YOU WANT TO PRESERVE THE BLASTED OR BLUED BLADE. USED ON A RANGE OF BLADES INCL JOHN EK, CRKT, NORMARK, LOFTY WISEMAN, MORA AND COLD STEEL.

    Very Pleased

Posted by Greg on 12th Aug 2010

I have been using this to reprofile an SOG which was delivered with a 30 degree grind down to a 20/25. This hone made removing quite a lot of VG-10 relatively painless, so I'm pretty delighted.

    edit my previous review

Posted by Marc on 28th Jul 2010

An update on my previous review of ALL Lansky diamond hones. Do NOT use oil to clean the diamond hones, use water with a nailbrush and washing-up liquid, oil can "gum" them up.

    fine diamond hone (gold)

Posted by marc on 11th Oct 2009

I do like this one a lot! Worked very well on an s30vcpm blade, put a fine toothy edge on it very quickly. A couple of lap's on a pasted strop afterwards and you could shave with the knife.

    coarse diamond hone

Posted by marc on 20th May 2009

Not as coarse as I expected, faster and better edge than the standard model coarse hone. If you edge is completely blunt it might be quicker to use the extra coarse hone first. The coarse diamond hone is fast, but not that fast. Best to wash away the swarf every now and then with honing oil. A definate upgrade to the standard hones.
