Spanish Knives

There’s something about Spanish knives that makes them easy to pick out of a collection. Spain has a long knife-making history, but its makers have never been afraid of a bit of character either.

That’s certainly true of the Spanish knives we’ve chosen for Heinnie. You’ll find traditional pocket knives alongside modern fixed blades, hunting knives and bushcraft designs from makers who are still putting their own stamp on things.

Spanish Pocket Knives & the Navaja

You can't talk about Spanish knife-making for long without ending up in Albacete.

The city has been associated with knives and edged tools for centuries and remains an important centre of Spanish knife-making today. It's also closely linked with the Navaja, probably the country's most recognisable traditional folding knife.

Navajas are difficult to mistake for an ordinary pocket knife. Their long, sweeping profiles and traditional locking mechanisms give them a look and feel all of their own. Some traditional ratcheting mechanisms produce a series of clicks as the blade opens, a characteristic that has become almost as recognisable as the shape of the knife itself.

They're interesting knives to collect, but we wouldn't reduce Spanish knife-making to the Navaja.

Modern Spanish Knife Brands

Spain makes some very capable outdoor knives too, and Joker Knives is one of the brands we regularly come back to.
