Wow ok, so that’s what good design can do……
What is it with KAI stuff that sometimes just blows you away. On paper 65mn and a plastic sheath should be able to do what this knife can. It’s the same size as a Junglas or a skrama and performs just as well if not better in some situations than both. How? 65mn is soft stuff but sometimes good design and heat treat become more important that which steel. It’s very easy to keep very sharp, does dull quicker than most but not to a point where it will not cut. The wow factor comes from the blade geometry and for me, the amazing handle. So comfy. Sheath is perfectly great with lots of carry options, yes it’s a bit rattley but that easy to sorted. This makes kindling easy, have to say I think mine came from HH as it was present from a pal. But always good service from Heinnie anyway. Only thing that would make this knife better would be a better steel, (m390 or even 5160 etc) then I genuinely think there would be a new benchmark chopper. Underrated knife yet brutally powerful, quick in the hand, cheap enough to abuse and precise enough for some detail work.
