Recived today so can't review what it's like at work but feels solid in the hand and already feels like you can put your trust into it! Amazing service from HH
I've wanted one of these since forever and having finally got one I am very pleased. The blade is heavy and sharp, the handle is grippy and the whole package is excellent. The only slightly odd thing is the extra long handle, its huge.
This one chops wood, opens cans and beer bottles, and is still small enough for crude whittling. Wide blade makes primitive grips possible. Back of the blade works as a hammer too. Blade material is soft enough to be kept really sharp easily, and you don't have to worry that it might shatter when chopping wood. It's not US made, and the sheath needed some oiling but with this price its not a problem.
This is a fab sized blade where the extra metal really helps to give it the weight to cut through the vegetation that you'd normally need a machete / bolo to tackle. Short length makes it safer than either to handle. I'm actually only giving it only 4 stars because mine, bought about 16 years ago came with a solid kydex sheaf. At least I can re-use mine when it finally wears out!
Its said you can't expect any tool to be a Jack-of-all-trades but this robust heavy knife makes a good attempt at it. It can chop, but be realistic about it? something wrist thickness is fine, it is great for splitting and will feather stick. Don't worry about the made in Taiwan thing, this knife is sharp? take a little time with the edge once out of the box. Basicaly, its great for what its designed for, will take punishment and at a good price, unfortunatelly, the sheaf is not of the same standard. As always, on-the-ball-service from the staff at Heinnie.
For less than £60, you get a proven, hardcore, robust, heavy piece of kit. It might not be long, but it takes a beating.
A great heavy solid chopper with a good sheath. The only problem personally is that it's made in Taiwan.
Very pleased with this beast of a knife - well put together, heavy and dependable - wouldn't be without it now. Oh, and top notch service once again from Heinnie.
