i think that knife deserve the money but the steel is for hunting or for sailormans duty but not for extremely hard use on fields like USMC

Takes me back to my scouting days when I used to wear with pride, yes its made in taiwan but dont let that put you off. Take it for the superb value blade with the history of the design and company and you will want one. I can see me passing this down to little Steele in the future. Top notch HH

At the time of this review, this knife is around £55. I wouldn't even pay £5 for this. I bought this almost 3 years ago now and have regretted it ever since. I stopped using it after the 1 year mark and only found it today which inspired me to warn others off of it. The fit and finish on my knife is actually okay. Everything is flush with each other and the blade and pommel are polished well. That's where the good things stop. This knife is not good for anything except from being part of a collection. The knife steel is seriously awful, something you'd expect from a £5 'survival knife'. It's incredibly soft and will stay sharp until you gently brush it against a stick (or take it out of it's sheath). Speaking of which, the sheath is put together well but the knife rattles around in it and the knife cuts it on the way out. Nothing good about it. Don't buy it. Get something else.

A very beautiful knife, but I was pretty disappointed with the build quality to be honest; the little guard between the handle and the blade was loose although a drip of superglue sorted it out straight away. The sheath is mediocre too, perfectly fine and usable but I was expecting a little more from Ka-Bar. All things considered though, I do love the knife.

I have just bought this as a gift for a friend and am glad i wont be using it. First of all i didnt read the other reviews to notice but this knife is under 6 inches in blade length not 7. Pros: Looks great, excellent handle and pommel. Cons: Feels flimsy due to quite a thin blade, very uneven polished finish and not sharp at all. Used a lansky to sharpen but the steel is the softest ive ever sharpened, so had to put a very steep bevel. Sheath is next to useless as the blade catches and cuts it putting it in and the fastener is loose and high so the hilt rides up and exposes the blade.

This is one of the best knives I have ever owned. Yes it is made in Taiwan but name a knife that is not made over in that part of the world now days. The important part is that it still meets K-bars standards. Excellent for camp or survival use.

I wondered how they do this knife for the price? Made in Taiwan, but none the worse for that. Looks like a souped up and better quality version of the "Scout Knife" I had in the early 1960's. Very sharp, a good choice for general / camping use, stainless steel blade suitable for food - slices even a soft tomato no problem. Not as robust as the standard military type Ka-Bar, but handier size and recommended for all but tactical use.
