I received the blade a few days ago. It exceeds my expectations. While it could be used for field/survival work if necessary, it wont excel in it. However, as a fighting / self defence knife it is hard to beat. Not heavy, great balance and nimble in the hand. Also very decent reach. It came quite shaped and after a few strops if is now hair popping sharp. Solid steel choice and should keep an edge for a decent amount of time. HH service is exemplary and second to none.

First things first; this is a *. 8 solid inches of 1095 steel honed to a hair-popping sharpness right out of the box, with a great grip and satisfying heft makes it a blade not to be triffled with (seriously, don't). Beautifully designed and accompanied with a solid, but streamlined sheath all add up to a fantastic purchase. As I said; it's not subtle. But it is awesome! And need I say anything about the top notch service? 100% effective, as per usual! Thanks HH, and thanks Ka-Bar!

i bought this tanto several years ago and it has been in constant use in my fibreglass business as an all round tool for cutting,trimming,scoring,levering,etc.brilliant piece of kit..

Elegant, beautiful; but solid and functional! This baby looks the business, whatever you want it for, but probably best for Military or show use as it's a bit big to be sensible camping or in field work. Is this the only Ka-Bar now seeming to ship with a Kydex sheath? Best fieldcraft knife is probably the more functional smaller Ka-Bar, the Warthog; but alas no longer being sold here with Kydex, which makes insertion/removal a more positive experience, though no idea if Kydex can stand up to major knocks. In summary, a pretty knife, any collector should have one!
