Nice to hold and use but the bottom lip that opens the bottle wearing badly can not see it lasting the summer BBQ season
This actually opens 3 kinds of beers. Apart from the obvious cap-lifter which most would regard as a bottle opener, the pommel is ground to a pry edge on one side, which is great for opening cans if you've got no nails, and finally on the opposite side from the cap-lifter is a wrench for unscrewing twist-offs. Not terribly useful, as you can just pop twist-offs with the cap-lifter, but it's cool to use, and the cap stays in the wrench, so you won't drop it. Also, it really is sturdy, no chance of it wearing out.
Bought this to give as a Birthday present and to be honest I wasn't expecting too much, just a small "extra", but liked it so much I'm buying one for myself. Ka-Bar side of things apart it is just a nice, tactile thing to use. It will open standard tops, screw tops and the bottom of the handle is even shaped to lift ring pulls on cans...excellent!! There is also a lanyard hole so if you are "mein host" you can hang it around your neck and always have your opener to hand. If you are the creative sort I think it would lend itself well to a bit of modding too. The handle is smaller and slimmer than the full sized knife handles but still a good size and as I said already quite tactile....'chap I gave it to hardly put it down all day and declared himself well chuffed with his present. Always good when a gift is well recieved :-).
Bought this in June 15 and initially it was awesome with a nice feel in the hand and not a bottle it wouldn't open. It is now Nov 15 and I am starting to notice considerable wear on the bottom lip, the important one that goes under the bottle top. I'm not sure how long this kit will last and will be disappointed if it doesn't make 6 months of use. Maybe I should hold back on the beers to prolong it's life!
Feels good, looks good, works good and will twist off of bottle caps (even if they aren't twisties).
Well I got told this was a front pistol grip for an AR-15,well that's one more use i can tell the wife.As a bottle opener it's very Highlander "There can be only one" in that you won't loose it and you ain't gonna break it,I've just not found a bottle it won't open(It works well as a hammer). Over all it works well, and being Ka-Bar will be utterly indestructable. And yes you can use it as a fore grip on a AR-15 slip it over the bare barrel and push forward to lock into position. Dave
