    Not just a skinner

Posted by Spencey on 25th Oct 2024

Batoning...tick. Slicing...tick. Chopping...tick. feather sticks...tick. skinning...tick. if you're looking for one knife to do it all, this is it. The flat/high sabre grind is excellent. The steel performs great and holds an edge very well. Pleasantly surprised at the performance of this knife.

    Outstanding general purpose knife

Posted by AB on 10th Jul 2024

Bought this alongside the Joker Trampero to experiment with the classic Nessmuk blade shape. Now my only problem is deciding which knife to use. 2 months of daily use later, this is a superbly made and finished knife with an excellent steel that had clearly been correctly tempered as edge retention is outstanding. Treated the handle with multiple passes of Ballistol and sealed it with a coat of beeswax. Nessmuk shape quirky and interesting, this is an all-purpose knife ideal for lighter chopping and excellent for food prep. But it absolutely shines for skinning and butchering tasks, as one might expect given its heritage. This flat/sabre grind probably closer to the original Nessmuk and quite a different beast to the scandi grind version, which I suspect would be more of a heavy "chopper". The "heavy" function is fulfilled by the Trampero, otherwise I'd just get both versions, and in fact still might.
