    Cracking good no nonsense knife

Posted by Mr T on 8th Apr 2017

My first Hultafors knife, have several of their axes, no nonsense sturdy work tool. Handle grip is really comfy and sits very well in the hand. The blade may not be long enough to batten very large pieces of wood, but I have a axe if needs be for larger stuff. Knife takes a sharp edge and so far seems to hold that edge well. They say you get what you pay for, well for the price of this knife you get plenty of value for your money. . Unlike some expensive knives you don't have to be precious about this very capable knife as it is a bargain in my opinion. Glad I bought it, I thought as it was so cheap it would feel, look and perform cheaply. Wrong on all counts. Buy one, can always send it back if don't like it, I doubt you will send it back !!

    Cheap and Cheerfully capable

Posted by Woody on 7th Feb 2017

Pros: Its very light even with the sheath. The blade is super sturdy as is the knife as a whole. I've whacked it good and hard for battening and its bomb proof. Its sharp and as a scandi grind, its simple to keep sharp. Ive done fire sticks galore and it shaves off a nice curly shaving every time. Its a really simple construction, which means there's precious little to go wrong with it. I have no evidence of any pitting or rust so the black coating works - at least until I need to take a whetstone to it. Cons: Sorry but its a tad light for battening and the blade is slightly too short. When I was whacking the end of the blade to smack it through the piece I was battening, it just felt the handle was too quick to rise. And there weren't much blade sticking out the other side. Conclusion Batten thinner bits. Its a smashing no nonsense super spiffing knife. And its so darn cheap. Buy one. Woody

    Another winner from Hultafors.

Posted by Steve on 27th Dec 2016

A few years ago I bought my first Hultafors - a Heavy Duty - and was very impressed by the no frills working tool that it has been. When this caught my eye I just had to add this to a rapidly growing "collection" of these knives. This one is slightly different as it has a belt loop and firesteel loop, these could be made available separately as the rest of the range might benefit from the addition as an alternative mounting. Very like the Heavy Duty but higher priced and with the coated blade and dark green handle - if the price of this is a bit of a stretch then the Heavy Duty would serve very well in it's place. There is also the OK4 with a grippy overmolded for a couple of quid more, I'm a fan of the original handle and never needed the extra grip. Razor sharp blade with a good looking coating that should last well. I'm sure Hultafors (and Heinnie Haynes) will sell a shedload of these, they are tough and reasonably priced. I do like the Heavy Duty a lot and they are even lower cost/.

    Superb!

Posted by Alan on 28th Oct 2016

This knife is a beast! (in a good way). As an existing owner of Hultafors knives I am impressed by just how much knife you get for the money, and this knife, although a little more expensive than the standard heavy duty, is well worth the extra. So with a better finished blade, black coating (time will tell how this holds up), and a handy belt loop/ferro rod holder, this all adds up to a more than competent bushcraft knife. I've only had time for a small play with it, but it handles basic whittling and some small diameter batonning with ease, which means I am confident that it will be more than adequate for my needs.
