The Helle Didi Galgalu was designed in collaboration with the Voetspore team of South Africa. A knife designed to withstand the hardships of transcontinental journeys of Africa.

Named after the Didi Galgalu Desert in Northern Kenya, seen by many as the last frontier of Africa. The Didi Galgalu utilizes a full tang construction. Three rivets reinforce the African Kiaat wood handle. The Scandinavian ground blade, genuine leather sheath, and Kiaat-wood handle assure Helle’s renowned rugged beauty.

Honest Knife

I purchased this knife on the 18th October 2017. If you have searched around on the internet about this knife or the makers, Helle, you may be a little concerned, as I was, about some of the adverse comments being made about the quality of their products. I am pleased to report that my knife is excellent. There are no problems with the scales, grind, pins, lanyard hole or the sheath. Nothing that concerns me. The only thing I did on receipt was put a little wax on the handle as it looked a little dry. I hope this reassures you if you are considering this or another Helle knife.

A terrific knife for bushcraft and survival

I am a huge fan or Helle knives.. I own several of them in all shapes and sizes. I use them often here in the UK for bushcraft . But, when i travel to Africa I usually take something different. For African trips I prefer a slightly heavier knife with a full tang. This new knife from Helle is ideal for my needs. Like all Helle knives it feels great in my hand and has great balance. the blade is a decent size without being too big or heavy and the handle is nice and chunky. I can't wait to give it a full field trial although I am already confident that it will quickly become my safari knife of choice.
