Heinnie Haynes® Slipstream 18

This arrived today in the usual HH record time and my first impression is that it is just simply a lovely knife. So, at first glance... Pros: - Brilliant materials with the S35VN blade and titanium handles - Really comfortable handle shape - Fit and finish is excellent - apart from the pivot screw not being tightened (nothing a T8 and some Loctite won't solve) - Perfect blade centring - Very good half-stop and reasonable walk-and-talk Cons: - Nothing that I can see, apart from the very minor irritation as a result of the pivot screw being almost at the point of falling out when I received it. All in all, very happy with my purchase.

I bought the slipstream to have a change over knife for my Benchmade Proper in my EDC, I didn't expect that it would replace the proper because I rave about the proper (I've got two... 1 in each of the steels!) but the slipstream does everything that the proper can do for less money. I'm a Disabled British War Pensioner and I have damage to both hands, arms and shoulders so everyday tasks from opening a sachet of sweetener to opening letters and parcels or picking thorns out of my dogs paw, I can really struggle with. The Slipstream has made light work of these tasks. If I had any criticism, it would be that the backspring is very stiff.... is this really a criticism or a bonus knowing that the blade is unlikely to shut on your fingers? The slipstream is an incredible British Legal Carry pocket knife for the money!

Used for a few days can’t fault it, quality edc nice and sharp out the box, seen a few reviews mention they had a loose screw but mine was fine, nice weight to it and not bulky in your pocket, really like the titanium handle feels nice in your hand. Well worth.

The styling is an almost exact knockoff of the Boker Plus Slack Raphael Durand design, which is £20 cheaper. Admittedly the Boker doesn't have titanium handle, but is nevertheless a real quality knife and well worth looking at. I bought one three weeks ago and can't fault it. Came razor sharp, beautiful fit and finish. I mean exceptional for the price and a delightful elegant modern take on a beautiful trad European design. And is really practical, with a VERY strong back Spring on the slip joint, which I love. * have a choice of g10 or beautiful wood..

This is a class act and compares favourably with knives twice it's price. Great stuff: - classy materials 35vn and titanium = very nice - fit, finish and centering are all flawless - lovely grind and very sharp on arrival Good stuff: - positive action with a strong back spring - comfortable in the hand and well weighted - confidence inducing half stop - I liked the packaging Bad stuff: - the pivot screw was loose on arrival (as pointed out in another review), to tighten it to made it secure rendered the knife almost impossible to open - I fixed it with some thread lock........disappointing but not a deal breaker given the overall quality. - tiny, shallow nail nick - if you tighten the pivot screw it is the worst nail breaker I have ever encountered. If you pop a bit of thread lock on the pivot screw to secure it (rather than tighten it) then it is fairly easy to pinch and open the blade. Overall a FABULOUS knife (if you have thread lock ;-) )

Whoever was responsible for the concept, design, materials specification and/or production quality should be congratulated. If you're dithering about it I can tell you you won't regret buying one. IMO the box is OTT but so what? Apart from that I can't fault it. Well done Team Heinnie.

This knife just arrived in the post and I was eager to play with it as I love HH branded knives so when I opened the box wow I thought what a amazing knife. The fit and finish is great which for the price is incredible. I don't know who makes them for HH but I'm very impressed. The blade (which is S35V by the way) came razor sharp and the edge bevels are spot on, It comes in a hard case like the Pelican one's. Finally the service from HH never disappoints!!!

Amazing little knife super strong spring definitely worth the money just need to get a slip for it to keep it nice a leather HH slip would be nice ;)

Just get one :-) I have a JE Made Lanny's Clip which retails for about double the cost of this - and all that extra £ really doesn't get a whole lot more - this is probably 80% as good (if I'm being really harsh) Fit and Finish of the handle/spine - spot on - very very good Blade Finish - isn't ground as well as the JE Made, but at this £ it's a minor gripe Stop Pin - There's no stop pin but the blade kick correctly contacts the back spine so no worries there What else? - Bronze washers, perfect centering, OK to pinch open, good half stop action...the list goes on OK, "modern traditionals" aren't everyone's cup of tea, but if they're not then you won't be looking here anyway :-)
