    Crap to sharpen

I had on in 1998, and you could get it razor sharp. This thing couldn’t butter bread.

    Good locking folder.

The Gator has been in production for years. It is well made, study, with a secure lock, and the rubber grip is firm and sure. This is a worthy contender to the famous Buck 110. The 50/50 blade really performs well, as long as it is understood what the true function of the serrated portion is. Not a saw. Serrations work by providing additional cutting surface with the advantage of differing contact angles. Imagine being able to take a long edge, but fold or fluctuate the edge so that the original length was still present, but precisely crumpled into a shorter distance. The result, as most people know, is a knife well suited to tough resistant materials that a plain edged blade will struggle with. The Gator is surprisingly light for its size. The ergonomics are ideal. All in all, this is a great knife, rugged and worthy.

    Great piece of kit.

I've got literally dozens of these in all different types (fine edge clip point is the preferred and most numerous one for me) and use them for hunting, farming, barbecues and anything else that needs to be cut. Takes a good edge and keeps it quite well. I've heard people moaning about the synthetic handle however, unless you want to use it as a pry bar or screwdriver, it will go for years. Best knife in the sub £75 range in my opinion.

Great folder with a good solid lock and an excellent grip. This won't slip out of your hand. Blade feels a bit light and I'm not sure how strong it is but unless you plan to abuse it I believe it will be fine.

My father is a well known serial knife abuser, & after watching him destroy 3 different well known knives (through nothing more than hard work) I bought him a gator mate about 4 years ago it's still in one piece, no side to side play in the blade, still got rock solid lock up & takes & holds a good edge, buy one, use it, hard!
