Specifications

Garos double sided leather strops are handmade in the USA. They use high grade cow hides and hardwood handles for their strops and use mainly oak and maple for the handles. This paddle strop is the 6.4cm (2.5in) wide version and is supplied with red (super fine), white (ultra fine) and green (micro fine) compound which will polish the blade and bring it up to shave ready use.

Pretty good for the price

I'd seen a lot of other paddle stops, which were very expensive in my view. However, considering the 3 compounds come with this strop, I felt it was good value for money. I'm a novice stropper, but this is doing the trick for my selection of knives.

Functional, but rather crude in construction

As a leather strop paddle, this works quite well, the compounds work well enough, and you can get a sharp knife shaving sharp with a little practise and time. Having said that, for nearly £40, it's quite crude in its construction... The cutouts are uneven, and badly finished off, and the handle is wonky to the paddle, and the leather is not inline with the paddle head... Mine also had some very rough finishing and splinters that I had to sand out. Also, it does not come with any instructions, and whilst it is simple enough to understand, there is no indication as to what compound is which! If it wasn't for Heinnie noting it in they're description it would have been anyone's guess! Don't get me wrong, it does the job it was intended to do, but for the money, I expected better quality. As always, Heinnie you deserve top marks, I cannot fault your service on any level! Keep doing what your doing!
