The Fallkniven Thor Knife is the largest model in
Fällknivens Northern Lights Series. The combination
of a super modern stainless steel laminate steel
(VG10/420J2) does not merely offer superior
performance, it is also uncommonly beautiful.

The inspiration for this Fallkniven knife comes from
thousand year old remains discovered in
excavations, where Swedish Vikings through rune
stones and epic tales have told of how they lived
their lives.

It has been known for over a thousand years that
the laminate blade offers exceptional strength and
keenness. With today's technology, Fällkniven have
been able to add a resilient layer of 420J2 stainless
steel to a VG10 high carbon stainless steel base.
They have combined the properties of two different
steels that together give a blade that both keeps its
edge fantastically well whilst withstanding heavy
use.

    Oops, my 2nd Thor!

Posted by San Porco on 12th Nov 2020

I know it's considered a luxury but I've had another one sent straight from Fällkniven in Boden, Sweden, with the engraving work on the blade and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to receive my beauty in just 7 days! When it comes to these Northern Lights series, the craftsmanship is flawless and they are sheer beauty. Now what would I do with these beauties?

    My first Fallkniven

Just wanted to say how impressed I am with my Thor Bowie. It’s beautifully made, solid and razor sharp. The first knife I have ever bought which did not need sharpening out of the box. Expensive, perhaps, but this level of craftsmanship and quality are rare these days, I still think this is excellent value for money as it will easily outlast me. Thanks very much for the outstanding service from HH, it’s my second purchase from them and genuinely impressed with their delivery, communication and customer service when I had a question. Thank you!

    Totally irresistable.

This is my 3rd F¤llkniven knife and as always, I've had mine ordered, engraved on the blade and shipped from Boden, Sweden, so that I may know for sure that the knife I have is genuine and not counterfeit (There are so many Chinese-made knockoffs these days). The Scandinavian look of this blade is very appealing and I believe that's what has drawn me to this beauty. Quite reminiscent of the Roman Gladius or Viking/Crusader sword, it's designed for rough use and personally, I believe laminate VG-10 steel (HRC 59) seems more suitable for heavy-duty tasks than laminate cobalt steel (HRC 60), although the latter maintains an edge a little better than the former. Out of vast knowledge and experience of outdoor, they've wisely chosen the ox hide leather handle, the material that is much more ductile than wood or stag and even Micarta, and according to Mr. Peter Hjortberger, the founder of the company, the input comes from the war swords of antiquity and so many of them have leather handle or leather wrapped around the wooden handle. It's big, robust, beautiful and insanely sharp, so what more could I possibly ask for?

Bought one of these secondhand from a chap who had bought it from HH 5 years ago, turned out that the handle was a bit loose, almost unoticeable but loose nonetheless, so sent it back to Heinnie who sent it back to Fallkniven who replaced it with a new knife free of charge. Stunning knife, stunning service.

    Great knife

Posted by Anthony Farnworth on 17th Oct 2009

Bought it several years ago and use it for paring branches, splitting small logs and generally treated it like a machette. Never let me down. This is my third Fallkniven knife, they are the best I have tried.
