The FDC features two sides; one fine diamond, 25 micron, 600 mesh and one extra fine ceramic, 9 micron, 1200 mesh.
You use the diamond whetstone (25 microns) in forming a new, thinner edge, the white ceramic whetstone (9 microns) for polishing the edge. You can polish the edge several times before you start using the diamond stone.
The fact that this whetstone has foldable handles means that you can sharpen your knife without risking cutting yourself. As Fallkniven get better and better knife steels, which are both stronger and harder, even greater demands are put on the tools needed to process these knives.
The whetstone comes with an instruction in English on how to use it. For cleaning, use some washing-up liquid and hot water. Regarding cleaning the ceramic stone, try an eraser or warm water and some washing-up liquid. Like all diamond sharpeners, this whetstone is a bit rough at first but gets smoother after a period of use.
