Exotac set out to produce the first rugged, waterproof, refillable lighter on the market and that goal was achieved with the Exotac titanLIGHT. The titanLIGHT is a precision machined, ultra-durable waterproof lighter that uses standard lighter fluid as fuel. Two o-ring seals prevent your fuel from evaporating or leaking when it's not in use.
The titanLIGHT uses patent pending air vents below the flame to reduce wind disturbance along with a flame guard that is designed to provide maximum protection against wind gust. A small screw-off cap on the bottom of the lighter body is used to both refill with lighter fluid and to service the wick. The flame guard can also be removed without tools by pressing the small brass pin through while holding the flame guard down.
To refill, unscrew the bottom cap and be careful not to overfill. To replace the flint, simply press the small brass pin through while holding the flame guard down then pull off the flame guard to access the flint and spring. Watch for small spring and remainder of the flint to fall out.

I bought it after I am disappointed of Zippos - not because they are uncool, but if you don't use them often your gas is gone and no flame... The Exotac keeps all fuel inside the system and protects leaking to the outside by an o-ring. So far, so goods. Once you need it, you unscrew the cap and push the wheel for lighting. But there is a major design issue - too much fuel is wandering from the tank to the top of the lighter, so the fuel is not just on the wick, but spreaded all around the head of the lighter. That way it is dripping down on the outside of the container, covering your fingers. Once the wick is burning, your fingers will probably too. I wish Exotac would correct this negative issue with a design update. If that would be solved, it would be a real great and reliable outdoor lighter.
I have owned this lighter for several months. Full/half full or near empty it is always the same. Fuel seeps to the head of the lighter and tries to set your hand on fire. It is not safe and simply does not burn the same as a zippo. This lighter goes out in the slightest of breezes. Fuel in this lighter does not evaporate as it would in a zippo which is a plus - but do you want a handful of flames every time you light it?
Thanks v much for answering question re whether it was possible to use Automotive fuel rather than lighter fuel. I have since received an answer from Exotac who advise against it based on safety grounds. I thought this might help someone else. I had hoped this might have replaced my zippo but no- shame really
If been looking at this lighter for a while and finally bit the bullet. I'm not disappointed everything I new it would be and more. The reviews that say it leaks all over.it will if you over fill it because with a Zippo the excess fule will evaporate as you walk around it won't with this. If you over till it and you will know if you have because you hand will most likely be on fire when you might it just leave it on the bench with the top off and allow the fuel to evaporate and you'll be good to go
The problem I've had with Zippos is that the fuel is constantly evaporating and your jacket or bag reeks of it. I was exited about the titanLIGHT as the O rings would prevent this from happening, but now that I have had mine for a while, I find that every time I unscrew the lid, the wick it totally saturated and fuel drips down over my fingers. I've given it two stars as it still is fun to light and as long as you wave your hands about the flames don't burn too much. I'd say that I am more disappointed in the limitations of a liquid fuel based lighter than what Exotac have designed.
Fantastic lighter. Just make sure that you don't over-fill it, like you might with a zippo. You only need to use 2 fuel caps to get it going.
looks simple and simple works, 5 stars not sure why you would low mark it because it wont run of petrol (I dont buy and hat and complain its no good at keeping my feet warm) know what it is and what it does and you will be more than happy you got one.
