Designer Jesper Voxnaes is far from the only artist to be inspired by the quirkiness that is Portland, Oregon. He’s certainly the first to create a folding knife so slim, lightweight, and perfectly suited for the working environment.

Typically, Jesper designs his custom creations in his shop in Loegstrup, Denmark. The CRKT Piet /peet/, though, was first sketched in Portland International Airport on the heels of his first-ever visit to the city. With a satin finish and a flat grind, the drop point blade is tough yet lightweight, it’ll fly under the radar until it’s time to tackle some packaging. It’s perfectly balanced by a compact yet highly ergonomic glass-reinforced nylon handle and a deep-carry clip that makes it fit perfectly in the pocket of work pants. The blade deploys quickly with an oversized thumb hole and is held securely in place with a locking liner.

Bike, backpack, Piet and you’re off to work.

    CRKT Piet

Posted by singleagain on 26th Mar 2021

Well, here we are nine months of Covid annoyance further on, and I can't believe that no-one else has reviewed this knife. So with out repeating myself I would just say that this is still my favourite knife in the collection. OK, it is run a close second by the CRKT CEO Flipper, but you can't buy that from HH. The Piet is incredibly good value however you look at it. Just buy one people.

    Classy budget folder

Posted by Singleagain on 10th Jun 2020

Well. It feels as if everything stopped due to Coronavirus. Certainly my knife purchasing has – I had a CJRB ‘Centros’ on order from the USA, and a QSP ‘Penguin’ on order from HH. Both are delayed due to the virus. Withdrawal symptoms were setting in! No problem I thought – HH have the CRKT ‘Piet’ in stock, so I ordered one on Monday – and had a dispatch confirmation the same day. Normal HH service, of course. Tuesday – no knife. Wednesday – no knife. Thursday – still no knife?? Friday – I thought I would pop down to the village post office to see if they had it. And guess what? The local postmen are on strike! It’s a global conspiracy! But of course the ‘Piet’ did arrive eventually after ten days, so here is what I think of it. I usually find that Jesper Voxaes designs have a bit too much ‘belly’ for my tastes - although I do own an HH Fox Suru. But this knife has a rather more ‘pointy’ blade shape which I really like. In addition, the constant curve of the top of the handle and blade spine is really elegant. The blue back spacer adds a lovely pop of colour as well. Add in light weight, reversible clip with recessed screws and really nice textured FRN handles and you have real value for money. There are just two very VERY minor niggles with this particular knife. Although the blade centring is spot on, the blade grind is not absolutely symmetrical. In addition, the top edge of the back spacer has the tiniest of nicks out of one side. This is real nitpicking however. But overall, this is a super-classy little budget folder, and a worthy addition to any collection, or as your favourite EDC. Thanks HH!
