Alan Folts is a knifemaker and metalworker in Greenville, N.C., who makes a remarkable range of custom objects, including titanium chopsticks. His Minimalist® neck knives have proven to be very popular.

They are very small and lightweight knives which give surprising comfort and control, thanks to the unusual geometry of the full-tang blades, aided by three finger choils, friction grooves for the thumb, hand-contoured green-black Micarta® scales, and a braided fob. Unlike many small neck knives, this handle is really functional for a wide variety of daily cutting tasks.

Each Minimalist comes with a custom-fitted Zytel® sheath and neck paracord for inverted carry as a neck knife. The knife is held securely in place by a positive detent which locks the base of the blade in place for maximum safety.

The Minimalist Bowie makes a great wilderness carry, and can be used for camp chores, cooking, and even skinning and dressing in a pinch. It is also an excellent survival knife.

    CRKT Minimalist Bowie

Posted by greg on 25th May 2021

A great little knife, razor sharp and very nice to grip. It lives up to all its recommendations and reviews by others. The steel used is ok for the price. I can't wait for the D2 version to hit our shores. Oh and a lightning fast delivery from the crew. A+++

    Used Crkt minimalist bowie

Posted by Chris Gibson on 5th Mar 2021

Nice enough knife but the one I received had wear on the handle. No I haven't tried sending it back. I am on the vulnerable list and virtually can't go outside. Same reason I didn't try returning the Tops kukri which I am still embarrassed about having spent so much on a blade that has no use. function

Great little neck knife, comfortable in hand, & a sharp blade straight out the box. Highly recommend .

    Epic for £35

Posted by Lee Falcon Beeza on 21st May 2020

Ridiculously small, ultralight, great choice of carry options. I may well buy a Wharncliffe version as well. Not UK street legal but with good reason a great option instead of a folding lock blade. Think it's superb value for money as despite it's size it fits all but Hulks hands. The usual excellent service and free next day delivery from HH.

    Great neck knife

Posted by Wideranger on 17th Jan 2020

I got into neck knives a couple of years ago not really appreciating how useful a small knife could be, but now I am rarely without one. I bought the Wharncliffe design originally, but my Wife was so taken with it that I gave it to her. I came to regret parting with it but a gift is a gift. I tried a few more designs but came back to the CRKT Minimalist again, this time with the bowie blade shape, mainly because it looks great! One of the best features to these knives is the way they feel in the hand, even if you have XL hands like I do. Great handle comfort, just enough weight from a full tang design and enough steel to do useful work. Both of mine came hair cutting sharp and are beautifully made. Fit and finish are extremely well done. I will probably buy the tanto pattern as well. I dont think you can get better value for money for a knife at this price and would recommend the CRKT Minimalist to anyone thinking about it. The only problem is choosing from the ever expanding designs in this range! The service from Hennie Haynes is first class. They remain the yardstick by which I measure customer service. You will not be disappointed.

    Beautiful little knife

Posted by Richard on 15th Sep 2018

I received this knife today and as I looked at the box, I thought, is this gonna be too small to be practical, but once opened, I have to say, I think it's amazing . Be aware that if you buy this knife it is very small but that's what you want in a neck knife, a small, practical secondary blade for outdoor use when camping/backpacking etc. You may question whether or not you have been given the right sheath, as it appears to show the tanto style shape to it, however, this knife comes in several different blade shapes/styles and uses the same sheath. That said, it fits perfectly and retention of the knife in it's sheath is very good. It's also very light and easily carried, and if you want a change from carrying it as a neck knife then it also comes with a sheath adapter to allow you to carry it on a belt in a variety of ways. Thanks to HH. Really pleased with this purchase.

    comfy little knife

Posted by Kisui on 31st Jan 2017

I find this to be a comfy little knife that is also well made. I'm not a knife collector, I use knives as a practical tool only and this one will be living in my kitchen. First time using Heinnie Haynes and am very happy with the service and speed of delivery.

    Wowie Bowie

Posted by col on 30th Dec 2014

I had bought a few unbranded knives from my local gun shop to start a knife collection, ( all good looking knives ) but i wanted to add some branded knives so i started looking on the web, and after reading such good reviews about the service from HH i decided to buy from them. All the reviews are right , great service & fast delivery, i ordered at 9.20pm on the sunday after xmas and recieved it today ( tuesday ) at 8.30 am. This is a great little knife, razor sharp out of the box and snaps securely into its sheath, also comes with a separate belt loop attachment so you can wear it on your belt if you prefer. A great knife , and great service from HH thanks : ) .
